章 228: Amusement Park

The amusement park was lively. The daily lives were back to normal as citizens were always on the move to reinforce the city, trying to protect themselves against the random dungeons that would appear.

The appearance of the dungeons were constant. Every week at least one central gate that passed B grade appeared, but so far, no other S class dungeon appeared over the city or the world. This slow period brought relief and a bit of fear. Nobody knew when another major dungeon would appear. After Red had sent out her findings, the world was on high alert on areas with the highest magical energy.

So far, there were about three hotspots around the world, and Atlantis was the leading area with the highest amount of magical energy.

Snow threw away any dark thoughts that bothered her. Right now, she didn't need any more dark tidings as she came out here to rest.

Mike jogged back with two cotton candy in hand. He handed her one, which she gratefully took. Ripping a piece off, she took a bite. It left a nice tingling sweetness that made her take another.

They continued their walk through the busy park. A few times, they rode on the rollercoaster. For some reason, the adrenaline rush from the high speed barely gave her the high that she usually felt. When Snow and Mike got off their third rollercoaster, Snow looked back, frowning.

"You know, the roller coasters don't give a high that I usually remembered." Snow chewed her lips. She wanted the adrenaline spike, but it wasn't giving her anything.

"You're turning into an adrenaline junkie." Mike snickered. He elbowed her with a smug smile that burst out into a chuckle. "You sound like all the other Hunters and Players now. Riding on a roller coaster doesn't bring that high that you want."

Snow snorted, waving her hand. "I only barely miss it."

"Right….you don't sound like that."

"Fine. I miss the hunt."

"That's the Snow, I know."

"This desk job life gets way too boring." Snow sighed. It wasn't something she wanted to do her whole life, but it didn't help that she needed to do it. She really did need to find someone else to take her spot to do more things that she wanted to do. "Slaying paperwork gets my body quite stiff."

Both Mike and Snow were walking past the water slide, where the screaming children could be heard as they slid down the slide.

"Which is why we should go for another dungeon dive," Mike suggested. "You haven't gone into one since the S Class dungeon."

"I know."

"You'll get rusty."

"Highly doubt it." Snow rolled her eyes. She had personally continued to work out hard, trying to stay in shape, so she didn't lose her focus and power.

"Still, we should go on one, you know. It's going to be simple in and out."

Snow thought it over; going in another dungeon dive didn't sound like a horrible idea. In the past, she disliked entering the dungeon. Now she got accumulated in dungeon diving, allowing her to jump in without much complaint. It was a job to get down, and the profit she would gain far outstripped her working for Dragon Express.

"Tomorrow, when we finish talking with Dairen."

"Okay. I have a specific dungeon in mind."

"Already?"

"Yep, I knew you were getting anxious."

"How did you know?"

"Because you're my friend. I know when you are getting antsy. Usually, you would have thrown yourself into work nonstop, but you seem unable to focus these days. Why is that? Is it because of Dairen?"

Snow didn't say anything for a moment. She tried to curb her worry, but it flared to life when Mike brought his name up. "Yes and also the Pope."

"Those two…." Mike slowly shook his head in understanding. "Dairen's is going to be fine, but the Pope is a different story. The amount of annoying spies that have been following around us is ridiculous. You would expect him to learn from the first, but they keep sending."

"Probably to bother us mentally."

"Rather than that, I think they are up to something." Snow said. Her gut feeling was telling her there was more to this than she thought. The Pope wasn't the type to stop from finding Dairen to find Levian. She had a feeling that he knew who she was but didn't move because of her popularity.

"You think so?"

"Yes."

"Well, he better hurry up. I'm getting tired of waiting."

Snow nodded. She agreed.

They continued to enjoy the day as best as they could. Going through a handful more roller coasters and other rides that would pass the time. It didn't take long for the night to quickly set. Snow was riding her last ride without Mike on the Ferris wheel, enjoying the city view. She looked out in silence with her leg crossed and her back, leaning against the chair.

Even when she was trying her best to enjoy the night, she couldn't get rid of most of her thoughts.

Suddenly, a loud clang could be heard. The door slid open, snapping Snow's attention. Levian, with his mask and blackish red outfit, stepped in. He pulled off his mask, showing off his handsome face and his snake-like eyes that stared at her with interest. He flopped down onto the chair opposite her.

"Levian, I'm surprised you found me."

"Sweetheart, I can find you anytime I want," said Levian.

"That's really creepy."

"I know. I wanted to say that to creep you out."

"Right…." Snow wasn't sure how to take his joke. She knew they would randomly throw out words that would make her uncomfortable. "What brings you here."

Levian walked back and forth. "Just a warning."

"Like?"

"Today is the day."

"I don't quite understand."

"The Pope is on the move."

"Ah. I suspect as much."

"He has a death warrant out on Dairen. It has changed from capture to kill on sight. I wouldn't be surprised if he found my trail as well."

"What?!" Snow straightened up. She was startled at the sudden change. "Why?!"

"Because he's a necromancer."

"But they knew this, why now?"

"Because of you and your connection to me." Levian shrugged his shoulder. "It's how the church works."

"That's bull!" Snow's hands turned into a fist, turning red. "They are going completely against their doctrine!"

"No. To them, Dairen is an abomination in their doctrine. You helping him and having a connection with me brought a sudden change to their decisions. Plus, they could not gain any other information about the sacred necklace that I have made the Pope angry. The Pope's not a patient man."

"So, you're the main problem." Snow glared. Even though she had learned more about Levian, she didn't trust him. Dairen, on the other hand, was someone she cared for, and it bothered her immensely that the Pope would put a kill order in place. She knew that Dairen would be a target because of his gifts.

"Absolutely not." Levian scoffed. "Even if he lost one of the sacred artifacts, he wouldn't mind. He has another one to replace what he has lost. It's his pride that is wounded from that kidnapping case."

"Which is still your fault."

"I had no choice."

"No, I'm sure you did. Steal the necklace and teleport us out of there."

"He would have still been caught."

"Right, Levian. From all the crazy things that you have been doing, I'm sure you would have been able to have better control of your abilities."

Levian went silent. He was looking at Snow with a heated gaze. "Anyways, I suggest you be cautious when you meet Dairen."

"I am."

"Not enough. Look at how I bypassed Mike's and your's senses." Levian snorted, waving his hand at Snow.

"If you came here to give me an earful, I prefer for you to disappear out of my sight."

"No, I can't. I'm going with you."

"You're joking, right?"

"No, sweetheart. You think I'll allow you to go by yourself into the den of wolves?"

"I'm fine. I got all my memories back."

"I highly doubt getting your memories back would help." Levian rolled his eyes.

Snow was getting sick and tired of Levian's words. She could not get used to his annoying presence. He always appeared whenever he wanted to, leaving behind useful information. Other times, he would bother her just because, knowing full well that he was taking full advantage of her temper.

She wondered why she hadn't gotten rid of him, but the familiarity and time she had spent for a brief moment together had brought a sense of understanding. Still, she drew a heavy line between one another as she didn't want much to do with him when this was all over.
