章 44: Ch 44: It makes me feel relieved

"Ah, there is no need to be so humble, Lisa! I know you well. Now that the biggest obstacle in my way is gone, I can relax. I am happy to see that you did not betray me."

Venissa Grace's words were like sweet poison, and her embrace was harsh but gentle.

Being hugged by her mother made Lisa's emotions go wild. She did not know what she should be feeling right now.

Happiness and dread fought inside her mind to take control of it. Lisa knew she should not be happy being in her mother's embrace. She needed to cut out this rotten part of her life to live an excellent life.

But it seemed impossible to do. 

Her mother had a tight grip on Lisa's heart. She had been the only human Lisa could count on for years. 

Lisa had dreamed about abandoning her, but she could not do it in practice as long as the concept known as 'family affection' held her back.
