A sense of realization slowly came over Dante. His lips curled into an evil smile. He was in possession of the dagger when he was back at Northbrook. He had found the blade and stole it when Christopher forced him to carry in the saddlebags.

The Count patted at his pockets and searched each section of his clothing thoroughly, but unfortunately, he could not find what he was looking for.

The De Sang Dagger was not on his person.

While he gazed into the mirror, his eyes followed a fracture line that appeared and ran through the reflective surface. The looking burst into a thousand pieces, falling out of the frame and onto the wooden floor with a tinkling sound like a thousand tiny bells ringing.

His head tilted in curiosity at the mess on the floor and wondered if that was normal. He pivoted to look for Duke Pierce. However, there was no sign of him in the office.
