After returning to the castle, Giselle ran up the stairs to her bedroom, out of breath and filled with mixed emotions. There was a pounding in her chest, and her heart ached. She could still hear Deacon's harsh words echoing in her head. As if stuck in a perpetual loop.
This caused her head to hurt, and she felt dizzy. It never occurred to Giselle that true heartbreak could make one feel physically ill.
Being heartbroken was something she feared. Giselle had experienced it so many times in her life. But this time was different.
Recently, she had let her guard down and felt at ease in her new life. Keeping her past behind her. Giselle thought her days of being hurt like this were over after marrying Kane.
And then adopting Deacon set everything right in her life. But today, that came crashing down around her.
Hi R&T readers! It's daylight savings time here in the US. Ugh! We lost an hour today. But I did manage to work on making two chapters for tonight's update.
