Layla slept soundly, and even the deafening thunder did not wake her. Her face was pale, and her brows were tightly furrowed as if she was having a nightmare.

Little did she know that the nightmare was right in front of her.

I screamed in my heart, trying to regain control of my body. But I could only watch helplessly as I carried Layla to the bathroom and filled the bathtub with water.

I took off my clothes and placed Layla in the bathtub. The hot water immediately soaked my legs and feet.

I finally understood why Jack wanted me to take off my clothes. The water would wet my clothes. He didn't want to leave any evidence.

My child was so smart, but I felt even more despair and sorrow.
