章 1: Welcome to Hellschool

----------------

Hell School is a prestigious, private academy where young Hellborn demons learn about the history of Hell, demonic languages and/or hone their demonic abilities.

Clarity's heart raced as she walked through the imposing gates of her pretentious Hell High School. It wasn't exactly her first day at school, but she did move with all the prissy royals of hell, and she had no idea what to expect. It wasn't long before the speakers turned on in the hallway.

"Good morning, students. Today, welcome our newest student, Clarity Cipher, to her first day at Hell School! Now I ask the student body not to stare at her…"

The hallway seemed much smaller than before as the students around her did just that.. stare.

"point at her or make her feel uncomfortable- even if Miss Cipher shows up in the middle of the year just to crash the social playing field and take the spotlight."

Even more, demons were staring and pointing, hardly whispering to each other in the least subtle way possible. Clarity had never felt like she wanted to die… again on the spot.

"But anyways, here, you will learn about the history and glory of our king, Lucifer Magne, the history of the Sins and Goetia family, and the geography of the seven rings; you'll get to master your abilities... whatever they are. And, uh... That's about it, honestly. Oh! And, uh, we got sports. That- that- that's somethin'. And, uh... Yeah, it's just those things, cuz let's be real here, this is Hell, and no one gives a flying fuck about math."

The announcement ended, and Clarity couldn't help but feel out of place like she didn't belong. But she knew she had to stay strong and improve her situation.

As she made her way to her dorm, she couldn't help but feel nervous. The students around her were all demons, not her regular imps from her old ones, but clearly, she could see they all resembled the Goetia clan if their crowns were any indicator.

She could feel eyes on her body as she continued to look ahead like a boss bitch. Her golden three eyes focused on the path ahead; her light horns sat like a crown on her head where her light pink curls would bounce, with her diamond-shaped tail following close behind.

Not a single face seemed friendly, but their gazes were definitely on her, eyeing her body up and down. What Clarity did not want on her first day was to not get in trouble or be the center of attention, and so far, she was causing minimum interruption despite her appearance.

Right now, the most important thing was to get to her room.

So, making possibly one of the biggest mistakes on the first day, she moved past the whole day with a bright smile on her face, straightening her bowtie on her dress and being the most, quite frankly, friendliest demon in the school.

After all, this was her chance to prove to her father that she could handle anything that came her way.

Because today was the day to cement herself in Hell's social circle, as her father had put it, or what he said specifically was all the most nightmarish demon beings in said place were going to be taking her one step closer to buying MORE gold.

Scratch that, her doritodad's exact words were: "Though on an individual basis, you're all kinda worthless teenagers in a demon-eat-demon environment you call school- so try to have some fun before you all kick the bucket!"

Sigh. Helpful as usual.

Despite the importance of the late addition, many individuals have been informed of Clarity's appearance at the school that day, knowing who THE dream demon is and, of course, her relation to him. Yeah, him, a Dorito object, and his daughter- a succubi doll. No one compares.

Unknown to hell's inhabitants, someone in heaven that day wished her a good first day despite the message never reaching its intended demon.

--------------------------------------------

"' Ahhhh,' says the cat. 'How I wish to be independent, live alone, and not grieve for anyone.'"

Suddenly, her mind formed into turmoil as a particularly familiar voice sounded interrupted her poetry reading.

"CHERUB! How is my cute pink angel?"

Bill Cipher is triangular-shaped; he is a powerful demon known for his mischievous and unpredictable nature. He is known for his distinctive bow tie and top hat, as well as his yellow eye and sharp teeth.

Despite his seemingly harmless appearance, Bill is a dangerous and cunning adversary, capable of manipulating those around him to achieve his own nefarious goals.

"Father! You interrupt my reading once more, and this book will become a lethal weapon."

With a smirk on her face, Clarity raised the thick, hardcover book in her hand, brandishing it like a weapon. Her father, who had been pestering her with questions about her day, took a step back.

"Easy there, cherub," he said, holding up his hands in surrender. "I have seen some stupid, weird things today with humans, and then it made me think of you."

Clarity couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards him; despite his constant work with the living world and possibly the universe, he was still here supporting her on her first day.

A small smile graced the corner of her lips as she hugged the book closer to her chest "History mentioned that we would learn about Lucifer Magne and his… exit from heaven. It sounds incredibly painful, I cannot imagine having to live with that pain the Lord—heaven.. yeah."

The triangle demon made a noise akin to a hum as he floated around the pink-haired demon. "That's interesting." He continued humming before stopping to look at her dorm room.

Deep in thought, he examined the plain walls, standard bed, and peeling wallpaper. "Do answer all your curiosity, Clarity. You'll find something there that wasn't there before."

Clarity's lips formed a straight line as she deadpanned at his cryptic note but chose to note his statement nonchalantly. One eye scanning the room, Bill snapped his fingers, which expanded the inside of her room, extending her pocket room where all her furniture was enlarged and transformed.

"Is it too much to give me a straight answer?" she tried sheepishly, snapping her fingers to change her bedroom theme to a mix of whites, reds, and pinks.

Before he could answer, a loud knock was on her door, prompting the girl to jump as she gave her father a look.

Her hand was on the door and in popped a wild individual – a tall fox-like demon adorned with insectoid attributes and hair with various compositions.

Clarity probably stood in place with a stupefied look on her face as the other female excitedly greeted her; it took her more time than she liked to recover, only to blurt out.

"What's on your mind?"

"Oh, my Lucifer! Girl, you're even more cuter in real life!" she flew into her room without warning, excitedly buzzing around, "Heard you were new here so I had to come see you myself!"

This is not what she'd expect such a friendly face to greet her moments after she had just settled in. The fox's eyes widened once she looked around her room, "I love your style too, very regal and elegant like yourself."

"The names Bee-lzebub, I'm from the Gluttony Ring. And what ring spawned a beauty such as yourself?"

She proceeded to formally introduce herself with her hand out "Clarity Cipher, and I'm from the Wrath Ring."

Bee laughed, not in a cruel way but in a lighthearted way, more like as all four of her hands shook hers. Her eyes locked her Clarity's, and she took a moment to appreciate her third one, Clarity noted.

"I would've never thought Wrath made you, but hey, I guess appearances can be deceiving."

Clarity shrugged her shoulders and offered her a smile. "Many surprises you can expect."

This prompted another smile from Bee, "I like you already! So much that I want to no need to throw a party for you now!"

Her grin was so broad that Clarity knew there was no way around this.

--------------------------------------------

Bee was lovely, in her opinion. Sure, she talked her ears off that day and, quite frankly, drained most of her energy already as soon as she left to prepare. It was closer to evening, and her father was gone when she turned around; he might as well have been a figment of her imagination with his disappearing act, but she knew he most likely returned to his duties when seeing her occupied.

Clarity spied her textbooks on her table. Despite how little students in hell cared for the educational system, Clarity still felt the need to read ahead since her demon power development was already above her average. Being around imps in wrath didn't count, but she enjoyed the way her powers were able to aid their harvests.

She turned to sit on her desk, pulling out her first textbook on the seven rings geography or map- it being her worst subject since she's only been in the Wrath ring mostly.

Turning to the first page, she started to read, and not a moment after, she heard a loud thud outside her room, followed by some profanity. The noise made her turn her chair to her door, scrunching her eyebrows in curiosity before deciding to turn back to her work.

Moments later, there was more noise and an even louder thud on her door. With sincere curiosity, Clarity abandoned her textbook in favor of checking on the source of her momentary distraction.

Opening the door, Clarity is surprised to see a limp demon phoenix-bird whose head plopped on the floor, causing a groan from him.

"seven realms… take me"

Clarity felt a twinge of concern for this random bloke; upon closer inspection, he wasn't intoxicated—just high. His head on the ground gave him a view of clarity as he continued mumbling at the sight of her.

"Hoe-ly satan"

Clarity leaned down onto his level as she steadied him to sit up straight carefully and look him in the eye, "Hi, my name is Clarity. Do you need any help?" she offered kindly.

"You feely hot jugs."

Okay, this is extremely awkward. She didn't know what to say except to respond with a polite 'thank you' before getting his hand on her face as the unknown Phoenix demon seemed to be getting his bearings.

"Sorry for this, must look like a crackhead here."

His hands had a sticky honey-like substance that smeared on Clarity's face, making her cringe in disgust.

"Names Pete, beautiful. I think I've seen you around before." His eyes gleamed a warm orange as he fully sat up without her support this time.

"Yeah, I just got here today, actually." She replied.

He smiled at her, "Saw you this morning, Sev' thought you were hot, and then I told him that if his sleazy ass cheats- I'd just take away his drugs." A laugh at the end sounded from him.

Clarity, on the other hand, was not amused. Her lips quivered in mild discomfort. As if sensing her discomfort, Pete stood up as if he wasn't on the floor moments ago.

"Aye, no hard feelings, right? I only speak in truths anyway," he extends his hands to her. "And the truth is glaringly obvious when I couldn't leave a pretty girl hangin' when there's a party tonight."

His language wasn't anything special. Sure, he was as shady as satan was ripped, but how he said it was so enchanting with his constant compliments that it made her swoon and take his outstretched hand.

"You'll have fun tonight, Clarity Cipher." He promised as he conjured a portal to the party before she could decline.

It was probably one of the heat of the moment, but that night, through all the flashing lights and chaos, Clarity was fully convinced she was in love with this phoenix.

The end... is just the beginning.

Prayer for clarity

Father of light,

I come to you asking for clarity of mind. Because I know the decisions I make can affect many areas of my life. Open my eyes to see Your will for me. May Your light shine on my situation so I won't make a wrong decision.

Please give me the strength and courage to follow You. Even when You take me down unfamiliar paths.

Help me to hear Your voice above all the nose. And to recognize when You're calling me to move in a different direction.

May I always be guided by Your grace and truth. And may Your Holy Spirit living in me fill my heart with Your love and peace.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
