Crynn POV
"First of all, why don't we take a seat," the unspeakable spoke and waved his hand over his chest, a short ornate table came into existence as well as 4 chairs, one behind the table and the other three in front of it. "To start this very important conversation off, let me introduce myself, I'm Mr. H. Why is my name an alphabet? Because all of us use code names around here."
"Secondly the 'H' is directly an acronym to 'Head' as I'm also the Head of the Department of Mysteries Operatives. Any first questions," the unspeakable stopped there as we sat down on each seat. I must admit, this is quite the treatment, a department head instantly, I'm flattered. "No? To begin with it, all of you must sign this unbreakable contract of secrecy."
"It implies that you won't be able to tell anyone of what you see, hear, touch, smell or taste," the man's hand hovered the table and 3 individual papers floated out with three pens. I grabbed the paper and skimmed through it as detailed and quick as I could. From my experiences with multiple lawyers, this contract seemed safe.
I signed and the contract burned into the air with harmless fire. Seeing me sign, Aria too signed and Newt Scamander as the last signer, appeared to be reluctant. "Great! Now kick this off with the discovery of our lost operative?" The unspeakable smiled through his mask, but I could feel his eyes showing a tint of mischief.
I opened my briefcase and collected three individual items belonging to Brasidas Malfoy. The snake wand, the Malfoy ring and the name plate. I dropped everything on the table for the unspeakable to check. "This is indeed Brasidas Malfoy's wand and the long lost Malfoy House Ring and his plate!" The unspeakable said in shock as he pulled up both the wand and the ring for a closer look of fascination.
"How come Brasidas Malfoy's plate hasn't got his codename? Wrong question how come his corpse which is aged about 500 years ago is a Department of Mysteries Operative when the Department of Mysteries is supposedly found in the late 1600s and the Ministry of Magic itself in the early 1700s How come the corpse is older than the department?"
"Now that is a question I'm most curios about because if my memory serves me right, everything should be what I've just said! "Good question, the Department of Mysteries is founded long before the 1600s. It's truly established in the 9th century when a Dark Lord attempted to wholly destroy Britain with the powers given from the Celtic Deity, Morrigan, Goddess of Death and Battle."
"It was then that a coalition consisting the entirety of then British Isles' wizards and witches including overseas help to defeat the powerful foe. Since then, it has been realized that a force is needed to be built to protect the British Isles from any sort of hostility. That's why the Department of Mysteries which then only consist of Operatives is established."
"But it's not until 1673 when we decided to go in deep secrecy and form two different sections, the Operatives below ground and the Researchers above ground. But even so, as time goes on, the Researchers also forgot of us below ground and from that point on, we're two very different organizations under the same main name."
"Also, the practice of code names only begin in 1714," I felt my mind just opened up to such a long history, but okay, that's quite the explanation. "History lessons are over and it's time for me to ask questions. Why is the famous Newt Scamander also here, has he got even any relevance towards this conversation?" Now the hard part comes as Newt Scamander fidgeted nervously.
"Before the unfortunate New York incident, Newt Scamander here was out looking for sphinxes in Egypt. He couldn't find any but ultimately came across I and my friend in the desert. Who knew that we ended up discovering a Malfoy corpse," Newt Scamander is starting to calm down, my explanation is pretty clear I think.
"And how exactly did you find said corpse?" I could see the unspeakable's eyes narrowed behind his mask eyeholes. "We went into a large temple, a grand resting place. Very dangerous, filled with countless traps, spear traps, falling floors, squeezing walls, it's not fun," I said truthfully, because it really is not exciting at all.
The unspeakable nodded and gestured me to continue. "It was by far, one of the largest mausoleums I've ever seen. But what's interesting is the guardians of the entire complex. Hundreds to thousands of statues made with metal made sure no one could enter. Without Newt Scamander here, I don't think we'd be able to proceed!"
"Each of these statues have either golden bows, or golden spears, capable of firing magical arrows or shooting beams the color of the sun. Actually, I managed to bring one with me," I gripped the spear from within the briefcase and pulled it out. Whooh! Still magnificent! The unspeakable's eyes shone brightly as he held the spear up.
"What a powerful weapon, I could feel the capacity of it! The Ancient Egyptians always had their own methods of forging magical weapons. Sadly, it has long gone to time," he sighed, it may have been lost to time but it's certainly a good time to continue the story! "Wait! How did you beat hundreds to thousands of these metal statues anyway?" Can I continue, thank you.
"Newt Scamander has an arsenal of magical creatures hidden under his spacious briefcase. As you may know, metal has a high electrical conductivity and each of these statues can only be disabled if a blue stone on the back of their necks is destroyed. With a thunderbird, charging lighting into each statue, overcharging them, frying and destroying each stone with ease."
"Good tactic, to think of such method in the middle of a difficult situation, ingenious!" The unspeakable praised while nodding his head multiple times in acceptance. Newt Scamander looked at me and smiled wryly because we both know he isn't there. "Not only that, we also encountered a massive giant statue."
"We entered another chamber, very tall and very wide. We don't need to use the lighting charm as a Luminescent Gold Crystal shone-" The unspeakable's eyes went completely bulging, his expressions are richly shocked! "Luminescent Gold Crystal?! H-How big is the crystal?!" I knew Ferrous was shocked upon seeing the crystal but I don't know it's this severe of a shocker!
"At least 2 meters in diameter!" The moment I said that, the unspeakable's right hand holding the armrest tightly, instantly crushed it under his fingers, terrifying! "Merlin's beard! 2 meters in diameter! Insane! Crazy! Damn the Egyptians! To keep something so precious under their hands!" Even Newt Scamander trying so hard to keep the surprise inside him couldn't hold it.
Thankfully, the unspeakable doesn't notice as he's too affected by his current shock. But holy shit, it's that precious, huh?
