章 57: Chapter 21: A Rebel in love Part 1
It was a calm night. The moon was half full and the sky was beautiful as it was littered with sparkling stars. But during this time, something was about to happen. In a military base, a huge operation took place. The world's most dangerous weapon known as the DINGUS was about to be transported to a more secure facility.
Agent Fowler was taking care of the whole operation to make sure nothing would happen like last time. Because if the DINGUS had a meltdown, it would release radiation in a whole state and those next to it.
Everyone was holding their breath, hoping that nothing bad would happen. There were at least 50 soldiers guarding the device and preparing it for transportation.
"Everything good?" Agent Fowler asked the soldier next to him.
"Yes, sir." The soldier nodded.
"Good. Make sure the convoy is secure and that it follows the road. No detour. The last thing we need is for this baby to have a meltdown." Agent Fowler reminded him as the soldier nodded.
"Yes, sir." The soldier then left as Agent Fowler watched as the DINGUS was put inside a trailer carefully before a truck driver slowly reversed before attaching itself to the trailer.
Before leaving, a squadron of soldiers got inside the trailer to keep an eye on it and to make sure that nothing happened. Two soldiers got inside the truck. Some others including Fowler got into military vehicles to provide good protection. Without knowing that someone was keeping a close eye on the precious cargo from afar and it was soon revealed to be MECH.
"Do you have an eye on it?" Silas asked the soldier with him as he nodded.
"Then begin the operation. Once we attack, their numbers will decrease. Giving us the chance to grab the DINGUS for ourselves. Move out." Silas ordered as he boarded one of the vehicles.
"MECH 1. Begin attack. Remember, complete immobilization. Don't let them escape with the DINGUS." The first MECH soldier said through the radio as the others nodded.
"Yes, sir."
The MECH soldiers all started preparing their gear. They then suddenly started throwing smoke bombs towards the facility. One of the U.S soldiers saw one but it was too late as the smoke bombs exploded and released a whole lot of smoke causing everyone to go blind and could not see anything.
"What in blazes is going on here?" Agent Fowler wondered in shock as he came out slightly from the door of the vehicle he was in.
The U.S soldiers were starting to fight back but the MECH soldiers used shock guns to immobilize them as Fowler hid back and waited to strike back. When the time was right, he knocked a few of them down as one almost knocked him out but he pushed him back. Finally realizing that MECH was here and that they wanted the DINGUS, he ordered the remaining men to drive the cargo away from the base quickly.
"All troops, move out now!" Agent Fowler shouted as they nodded.
They all get on their vehicles and the trucks start driving away to safety with the cargo. The MECH soldiers who were watching from afar, saw that the convoy was moving out.
"Sir, the convoy is moving." The first MECH soldier notified his leader as Silas gritted his teeth.
"Let's get to the vehicles." He ordered them.
The truck and vehicles all left the base and entered the highway as Fowler was driving right behind it along with some others for protection.
"Looks like everything's clear." Agent Fowler said to his relief but out of nowhere, MECH vehicles all start to come out of nowhere.
"Team Prime's help would be useful right now." Agent Fowler said to himself. As much as he didn't want to bother the Autobots right now, their help is gonna be useful right now.
"Get those vehicles off the road." Silas ordered from the helicopter he's on.
MECH vehicles started getting the military off the road and soon Fowler was the only one left to protect the truck and the precious cargo from the enemy.
"I'm the only one left now. Let's see if I still got it." Agent Fowler said as he started to wait to strike back.
Some MECH soldiers started surrounding Fowler. One of them on the left while the other one was about to hit him when he quickly put the car in reverse and caused the two enemy vehicles to hit each other with a clash. Fowler drafted from behind and hit the first one making it lose control and hit the other one next as he smirked at his achievement.
"Two birds, one stone." Agent Fowler said.
There were only two MECH vehicles left and they were starting to take the truck off the road. But the driver was maneuvering so much that the MECH soldiers couldn't even try to climb on the trailer to steal the DINGUS.
"Nice try, fools." Agent Fowler said as he accelerated to help.
MECH was really having a hard time trying to steal the cargo when suddenly there was a huge turn up ahead and which meant no more maneuvering, only straight turn. The truck driver quickly hit the brakes and made the turn hard and they even avoided getting off the road but this also gave the MECH soldiers the chance to get on the trailer.
"Open it up." Silas ordered with a malevolent smirk.
The MECH soldiers started taking out some gear like blowtorches to create an entrance on the trailer. Agent Fowler saw them and he was not about to let them steal the DINGUS on his watch.
"Oh no, you don't. Not while I'm around." Agent Fowler said as he drove up to the trailer.
He then opened the door of the driver seat and slowly got on the roof of the car and waited. When the time is right, he quickly jumps on the ladder and starts climbing the whole way to the top.
"Sir." The first MECH soldier notified as Silas saw that Fowler was trying to stop them as he smirked.
"Well, well, would you look at that? Someone is trying to be a hero. Let's teach him a lesson." Silas said as they agreed to the plan.
The MECH soldiers all start hitting the trailer to make Fowler let go and at first he's about to let go but he's able to go on top due to holding on tightly. The MECH soldiers had already pierced through the roof of the trailer before they had thrown an electro shock bomb inside to knock the soldiers inside the trailer. After the soldiers were completely knocked out, the DINGUS was right for taking.
But Fowler wasn't about to let them have it. He then punched the two soldiers hard on the face and made them fall somewhere on the road. The truck hit Silas' vehicle and made it go off road and allow the convoy to get away to safety.
When they finally found a place to hide, Fowler had realized that he needed Optimus and the rest of Team Prime to move the DINGUS and keep it safe from MECH like last time.
"We're gonna need a lot of muscle for this mission. Time to make a call." Agent Fowler said before taking out his phone to start calling the Autobot Omega One Base.
The team that was left at base joined up with Silas to try and discuss a plan to get the DINGUS.
"Sir. They got away. We do not know where they're going to take the DINGUS." A MECH soldier notified Silas as he nodded but started to form a plan in his mind to get what he intended to get.
"Don't worry. We'll get another chance. But this time, we won't go easy on them and believe I'll get what I want soon." Silas said as his men all nodded.
Without knowing it, Silas and his troops were being watched from afar through pairs of binoculars by a certain new group who were looking to bring peace.
"Do you see him?" The person asked in a stern and female voice who seemed to be the leader of a new group as the person beside the leader nodded.
"Yes. After all this time, we've found him. This will soon end." The person sounded like a male in his late teens as the leader nodded as she clenched her hand into a fist.
The day after that, it was a nice plain and normal day at school as Emily, Jack, Raf and Miko were by their lockers. The extra chores that they have to do at the base for that race stunt that happened three days ago has gotten to them and taken its toll on them and they were all a little bit tired from all the cleaning as Jack has been yawning non stop.
"Are you done yet?" Jack asked as he stopped another yawn from escaping as Raf rubbed his eyes.
"Dunno." He answered with a small yawn.
"Me neither. My brain hurts." Miko added with a small groan as Emily just laughed sheepishly.
"Man, Ratchet wasn't kidding when it comes to punishments." Emily said as she closed her locker.
"Tell me about it. Last night, I was having a nightmare where I was cleaning the walls of the base." Jack said as Emily raised an eyebrow at him.
"It wasn't a nightmare. We cleaned the walls last night." She said as Jack just blinked at that.
"Yeah but at least I wasn't holding on to a rope." He said as Emily just grinned at that.
"Good point. Well, our next nightmare will be class Math. Something tells me that we're about to go get a pop quiz." Emily said as she checked the school schedule that she wrote as Miko rolled her eyes at that.
"Sounds boring." She said as they started walking.
"I wouldn't be surprised if there's one." Jack said before Raf remembered something as he looked at them.
"Speaking of surprises. You're not gonna believe this. I just heard that there are some transfer students coming by." Raf said as Jack almost tripped at that. Transfer students? That's new but Miko is a transfer student so that was a little surprising.
"Transfer students? Here in Jasper Nevada? No way." Jack said as he was finding a hard time believing that.
"No, I'm serious. Rumors have it that there's a boy and a girl new to the school." Raf said as Emily became curious at this.
"Oh really? I wonder what they look like because I haven't seen anyone new here at school. Know anything about them?" Emily said as she turned to Raf curiously.
"Well, there's a lot of rumors going around." Raf said before he was stopped by Jack.
"Come on, Raf. We can't voice our opinions on them because of some rumors." Jack said since he learned to never trust gossip and rumors.
"Yeah, this is like going too personal. We're not like that, guys." Miko said.
"Yeah, you're right. Let's not talk about this. We'll figure out who they are sooner or later anyway. Anyway, what should we do when we get to base?" Jack agreed with Miko before asking what they should do as Raf sighed.
"Same thing we always do. Clean up the mess." Raf said as Emily pitied him.
"Yeah, but last night, Ratchet said that tonight we wouldn't be grounded. He figured that since we had worked so hard in the past 3 days, we could use some time off. Do anything we want and have fun. Just not too much fun." Emily told them the conversation she and Ratchet had last night as the trio perked up at that.
"Sounds neat. What should we do?" Jack asked as Emily took out her small notes to see what they should do later.
"Something simple. Watch a movie and eat some popcorn." Emily told them as Raf smiled at that.
"I can download a few movies." He said as he gestured to his laptop in his backpack.
"Okay, then I'll buy the popcorn." Jack said as Emily grinned at that.
"Already ahead of you. I bought extra butter, extra cheese and extra spice." She listed with her fingers since she figured that Jack likes something a bit spicy and Raf with butter.
"Whoa, whoa!" Miko exclaimed as she faced her while walking backwards.
"Get that thing away from me. Last time I ate spicy food, my mouth was on fire." Miko said before she accidentally bumped into someone and dropped her books.
She then turned around to give the one she bumped into a piece of her mind as she had an annoyed look.
"Hey, dude, Can't you watch where you're... going?" Miko said before trailing off as her annoyed look disappeared.
When Miko saw the one she accidentally bumped into, she started to blush lightly. It was teen, handsome with beautiful green eyes and a cool hairstyle. Miko saw how that cool guy moved his flame red hair with his hand in slow motion as she couldn't stop staring at him in awe. But suddenly, Emily snapped her fingers in front of her face so that Miko would come out from her daydream.
"Good. I thought your brain stopped working." She teased but Miko didn't make a comeback as the teen started to speak.
"Hey. Is there something you wanted to say to me?" He asked curiously as his emerald green eyes looked at Miko curiously as she had a hard time speaking.
"Ah... uh... uh..." Miko stuttered as she couldn't help but blush more so Emily decided to help her out a little.
"I think what my friend is trying to say is that she's sorry for bumping into you like that." She said as the teen nodded slowly with a raised eyebrow.
"No problem. It was my fault too. I'm new here and I should be more careful. Oh, you dropped your books." He said before kneeling down and picked up the books that Miko dropped by accident.
He then stood back up before handing them to Miko as she held them.
"Here are your books." He said before seeing the full name of Miko in one of the books.
"Miko... Nakadai. That's a beautiful name. Mine is Tai Rin. Nice meeting you, Miko Nakadai." He said with a slight bow as he finally introduced himself.
Miko was so nervous about what Tai said to her that she couldn't stop blushing up a storm.
"T-T-Thanks." She said shyly.
"I think what Miko is trying to say is that it's nice to meet you. I'm her friend, Emily Sparks. This is Jack and Rafael. We call him Raf." Emily said as she introduced herself and the others.
"Hi." Jack nodded as Raf waved.
"Hi." Raf waved as Tai nodded.
"So, uh... you're new here? I believe Miko can help you know this school better. She's also a transfer student. She's been here for a year. I'm new too but she knows this school a lot better than me. She also knows this town like the back of her hand and I'm sure she would love to give you a tour. Ain't that right, Miko?" Emily said but Miko didn't reply so she had to nudge her with her elbow so she could talk but she wasn't able to.
"Sorry. She can be a bit distracted sometimes." Emily apologizes as she was getting a feeling that Miko was falling for him.
"It's okay. She can give me this tour anytime she wants." Tai said with a soft smile as Miko felt like dying at the sight.
"Tai." A serious and young voice called his name as they looked to see that it was a girl around Jack's age wearing black boots, grey pants, a black jacket and has white silver hair and piercing acid green eyes.
"Are you coming or not? I don't wanna be late for Gym class." She said as she put a hand to her hip.
"Coming. I have to go. It was nice meeting you guys. Same for you, Miko. I can't wait for you to give me a tour around town. See you later." He said as Emily nodded.
"Bye." She said as Tai joined his friend who looked back to them before lingering her gaze at Emily before giving her and the others a serious look that almost looked like a glare before the two left.
"Whoa. I don't know why this girl looked at us like that. But it's starting to give me the creeps." Emily said as they watched the two leave.
"If the look in her eyes scares you that much, check this." Jack said as he pointed to Miko who was daydreaming.
Miko was thinking about how Tai was so cool and handsome as she started to develop some sort of crush for him. She imagined her kissing the guy but then suddenly the school bell started ringing. When Miko heard it, she got startled and started freaking out.
"OH NO! WE'RE GONNA BE LATE!" Miko yelled loudly before Raf, Jack and Emily started laughing since it wasn't the real bell.
Emily had used her phone to play the school bell and to get Miko out of her daydream again as she smirked playfully.
"Told you it would work. Sorry about that. Emergency bell." She said with a grin as Miko gave them an annoyed and playful look.
"Very funny you, guys. Let's just get to class." Miko said as they agreed.
Three hours later, and soon classes were over. Miko got out early for good behaviour and a good grade on the pop quiz in math class which surprised some students and teachers. Miko was sitting in the stairs while waiting for the others but she was thinking about how Tai was cool and handsome. He was the only thing she could think about as she sighed dreamily. Jack, Raf and Emily finally came out of the school. They had to stay and clean up a bit but now that they were finished, they could leave for the base.
"Is it me or today was... kind of weird?" Raf spoke up as he noticed how Miko was acting during some classes with her as Emily looked at him curiously.
"What do you mean?" She asked as Jack passed her a mint candy.
"Miko got out earlier due to good behaviour and she had a good grade on the pop quiz. On the last one, she failed." Raf pointed out as Jack noticed how Miko was acting.
"Yeah you're right. Something's off." Jack agreed with him as Emily perked up at that. The only way for Miko to start acting strange and for her to get a good grade at the pop quiz and to be able to get out early was... Oh, Primus!
"And I think I know why." Emily said as she let the mint candy melt in her mouth.
"Really?" Jack turned to her curiously.
"Mhm. If you ask me, Miko is in L." Emily said as Jack and Raf looked at her in confusion. Miko is in L what?
"L?" They both asked curiously.
"Yeah, you know, the L word." Emily said as she crossed her arms.
"Leather?" Jack guessed as Emily shook her head.
"No." She shook her head.
"Lettuce?" Raf guessed next only to get another shake of the head.
"No."
"Ladder?" Jack guessed as Emily gave him a look.
"Seriously? It's Love." Emily said as she told them Raf and Jack made an 'Oh' look.
"Finally you get it." She said with a grin.
"Come on, Ems. This is Miko we're talking about. There's no way she's in love. Even if she was, who would she be in love with?" Jack said as he found that hard to believe only for Emily to give him a look. She could not believe Jack didn't see who Miko had fallen for.
"Whoa. Do you think she fell for that guy Tai?" Jack asked as he looked shocked when he remembered the strange look that Miko had when they met Tai earlier. It was the same look he gave when he was around Sierra.
"Looks like it. Seems like you're not the only one who has a crush on someone." Emily said.
"Yeah. I guess so." Jack said as he rubbed the back of his head. He has already gotten used to Miko's antics, Emily having a crush with Optimus, finding out that her friend was also part Cybertronian but Miko being in love will be something they're gonna have to get used to.
"Are you sure that Miko is in love?" Raf asked as he looked up to Emily as she nodded.
"That would explain her strange behaviour during class." She said as Jack shook his head. That doesn't prove that she was in love.
"That doesn't prove anything." He said as they exited the school only to find Miko sitting on the stairs.
She was deep in her thoughts while resting her head in her hands and smiling dreamily while daydreaming again as Jack looked dumbfounded as Emily gave him a smirk.
"Need more proof?" She asked as Jack just shook his head. Okay, Emily was right. Miko is in love alright.
"No, that's proof enough." He said. The bots are in for a surprise especially Bulkhead and Wheeljack.
"Wow. I never would've thought this could happen. Miko is in love." Raf said but somehow felt left out since his friends have crushes but maybe he will find the girl in the future.
"It happens to everyone sooner or later. I'm glad she started to like someone. She deserves to be happy." Emily said as she smiled at Miko. Jack looked at his watch and noticed the time.
"Yeah. Oh, we should go now. We don't wanna be late for our marathon movie." Jack said as Emily turned to him as she grinned. Time to tease Miko a little.
"Leave it to me." She said as she approached her as Miko snapped out of her daydream as Emily was standing beside her.
"Daydreaming again? That's the third time it happened today. Got something on your mind? Or someone?" Emily said as she gave a knowing look at Miko who had a confused look. What was Emily talking about and what's with that smile on her face?
"Uh, what are you talking about?" She asked as Jack approached.
"Emily here thinks you're in love." He said as Miko started to blush lightly.
"What? Me? In love? Get out of here." She said in denial but Emily could see that she is and is truly in love but she decided to tease her a little more to admit it.
"I don't know. It seems to me that you're starting to like that new guy. What was his name again?" Emily said before trying to remember the name when she already knew the name but she had to make sure that Miko admits it.
"Uh, Travis?" Miko asked nervously.
"No." Emily shook her head.
"Tristan?" She asked dumbly.
"No." Jack shook his head.
"Oh wait wasn't it Taylor?" Miko guessed again as Raf shook his head.
"I'm pretty sure it was Tai Rin." He said as Emily decided to drop the game and gave Miko a smile.
"Come on, Miko. You're not fooling anybody." Emily said as Miko gave up.
"Okay, fine, his name is Tai Rin. There I said it. But it doesn't mean I'm in love." Miko said as she tried to deny it while grabbing her backpack and standing up.
"Besides, what's so cool about him? His green eyes? His handsome face? Or his...?" Miko said as she tries to find different ways to describe Tai but trails off as Emily knew what she was trying to say.
"Long flaming red hair?" She finished for her with a grin.
"Yeah. His long flaming red hair. It's so cool. I wonder if it's real or painted. It makes him look so amazing. I mean, it gives him a good look." Miko agreed with Emily before thinking if Tai's hair was natural that way.
"Ah-ha. So you like him." Jack said as Miko gave Jack a look but her blush gave it away.
"No, I do not like him." Miko denies it.
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't."
Emily quickly got between them as she gave them a look.
"Okay, you two, calm down. Let's get out of here without pulling each other's hair." Emily told them.
"I'm sure Miko likes the new guy. And she can't wait to give him a tour around town." Raf said as Miko gave Emily a playful glare.
"Thanks a lot, Ems." She deadpanned.
"What? I was just trying to help." She said in her defense.
"Looks to me you like the new guy and that's why you're mad." Jack said as Miko was getting a little irritated by now.
"Say that again and you'll get my book in your head." Miko threatened as Jack backed up at that.
"Okay, okay. But just so you know, I still think you like him and that you're in love with him." Jack said only for him getting hit on the head with a book from Miko.
"Ouch!" He yelped in surprise as Miko huffed.
