The cacophonous shouts were deafening, resembling a bustling vegetable market. Amidst the clamor, comprehension was impossible, but one could only sense the excitement exuded by these sounds.
This place was a penitentiary, characterized by a lengthy corridor lined with rows of cells. In that moment, prisoners pressed against the edges of their cell fences, extending their hands and shouting with fervor, as if some new form of amusement had arisen. Not everyone shared the same level of enthusiasm; the cell at the end of the corridor seemed remarkably tranquil.
This particular cell was designed for single occupancy, and the new occupants had been here for less than thirty minutes.
"Though I am aware that some things happen swiftly the first time, isn't this a bit too fast? Regardless, let me relish the experience. It would be inhumane to return a second time without savoring anything, right?" Stephen reclined on the bed within the cell, cursing softly under his breath.
Do not misunderstand—this does not pertain to the transformation from boys to men, nor does it embody prison-related characteristics. Instead, it refers to transmigration!
Such occurrences are commonplace in web novels, yet the likelihood of them happening in reality is exceedingly slim. Stephen was fortunate enough to transmigrate into the familiar Marvel world and acquire the abilities of a Protégé!
Who is the Protégé?
A bug-like character within the Marvel universe. Although this individual possesses an indiscernible visage and is playfully referred to as cute, their abilities are abnormal.
Unlimited replication, limitless accumulation.
Once you "strike" them, be it abilities, matter, consciousness, abstract powers of existence, and so on, they can instantaneously replicate it, even including the experience of utilizing said abilities.
The true peculiarity lies in their capability to infinitely stack the powers of the duplicated abilities. Once, ten times, a hundred times, an infinite number of times. Simply put, as long as they remain standing, others will fail if they attack.
Using this wave of abilities, the Protégé managed to defeat the Living Tribunal, replicated the abilities of numerous mighty gods in the universe, and even claimed to possess the same powers as OAA (One Above All).
However, despite possessing such extraordinary abilities, the Protégé met their demise due to the plot. Other beings summoned Scathan the Approver to judge them and inexplicably defeated and sealed them within the body of the Living Tribunal.
Having obtained such an aberrant ability, Stephen believed he could wander freely, but he never anticipated undergoing the same treatment.
The plot strikes!
It hadn't been more than three minutes since he transmigrated into the Marvel world. There was no time to comprehend the situation or replicate any abilities. The universe he found himself in was obliterated—no more!
Stephen believed he would perish, yet unexpectedly, he transmigrated once again and found himself directly within the confines of this prison cell. Hence, his complaint about the swiftness of the first transmigration.
It was unlikely for anyone to transmigrate within less than three minutes, so Stephen refrained from taking any action for nearly half an hour, waiting to see if there would be another upheaval.
However, it appeared that such a scenario was not forthcoming.
"The first transmigration happened swiftly, and now the second seems to be taking longer. This is the growth history of a man, damn it!" Stephen turned over and sat up, eager to familiarize himself with this world.
On both occasions, he experienced physical transmigrations, signifying that his Protégé abilities still remained, only the world had changed. Therefore, Stephen wasn't particularly worried about his current confinement.
"The sounds outside seem to have quieted down," Stephen noticed that the corridor, previously resounding with gongs, drums, and firecrackers, now appeared serene. Just as he was about to rise and approach the fence to observe the outside situation and perhaps find a means of escape, two prison guards approached the cell, escorting a woman in custody.
"Isn't this cell supposed to be vacant? Why is someone already inside?"
"It seems an Asian guy was locked up without even getting a chance to change his clothes. He must have offended someone. Never mind, let's leave her here."
"Is that permissible? After all..."
"Did you witness her ability just now? What is there to fear!"
The two guards opened the cell door and unceremoniously pushed the woman in custody inside, locking the door behind them before departing.
Having two prisoners in a single cell was acceptable, but having one male and one female... Well, having one male and one female was a bit excessive, wasn't it? Perhaps it was a perk for newcomers? Stephen muttered to himself as he observed the woman who had been locked in, his gaze exhibiting a faint spark of interest.
She possessed long brown hair cascading over her shoulders, partially obscured by a shawl. Even though she wore a loose-fitting prison uniform, her impeccable figure was difficult to conceal. She stood tall and exuded a cold charm, her face devoid of expression.
Most importantly, Stephen recognized her identity!
"What an incredible coincidence. Everyone begins with a dog, yet I start with a cat. And that cat appears to be a wild and untamable female cat!"
