They descended the jungle gym and Grace asked if they should go again, but to another jungle gym a little more complicated than the first.
Charles nodded eagerly and this time, he was more agile, taking the lead as they climbed to the top.
"All hail the conqueror!" Grace proclaimed as Charles stood at the top.
A glorious smile broke out on Charles's flushed face at the praise from Grace and the applause from his father.
After some time, they made their way back to the picnic blanket.
Charles, now tired from all the activity, flopped down with a contented sigh.
Grace handed him a juice box and some snacks, and he munched happily while they all took a break.
Jace leaned back on his elbows, his gaze drifting over to Grace. "You know, this day has turned out even better than I expected."
Grace looked at him, her smile soft and sweet. "It really has. It's nice to just enjoy the simple things."
