Vera's smile widened when she saw that she might have guessed correctly.
"Have you finally fallen for the boss? Is that why you turned down his cousin. You know the last time we asked, you said you felt nothing for him."
"Of course the boss is a better choice," Mary said and almost immediately, her lips pursed in a frown.
"But the boss is so cold. He doesn't strike me like someone who would bring himself to do such a romantic thing as proposing openly to Grace even if he loves her to death."
"However, Mr Rockfeller was so elaborate and dramatic last night that I was shocked to hear that Grace had the heart to turn him down. It's such a pity that he met someone who has already raised the standard so high."
Grace was speechless at the way Mary made it look as if she looked down on other men who were not as rich or as handsome as Jace. "What do you mean?"
