And to make matters worse, her body was on a primal level, responding to the closeness and the warmth, the chemistry was undeniable.

Jace's heart was pounding as well. He had intended only to see who it was that was creeping about in the dark and didn't expect the person would launch a sudden attack. 

If he wasn't fast, he didn't know which part of his body would have been disabled by now from the force with which Grace had attacked.

He wanted to ask how she was this ferocious but instead found himself overwhelmed by a different kind of urgency from the intoxicating scent of her hair mingled with the night air as he held her in his arms.

His eyes, darkened with emotions he struggled to control, were fixed on the silhouette of her face.

"Grace," he murmured again, his voice barely more than a whisper, filled with something deeper than concern.
