"I'm sure it's that sneak, Jace Brandon, that had fed her with lies about me."

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. His butler entered, bowing slightly. 

"Sir, dinner is ready."

"Get lost," Trent snapped, waving him away impatiently. "Is this the time to be talking about food?"

A short while later, his assistant, a wiry man with glasses perpetually slipping down his nose, entered the study. 

"Sir, we've done as you asked. We've tried to interfere with most of the testing centers around to make things difficult for them. Yhe tests will not be carried out smoothly."

Trent's smirk deepened. "Good. Let me see how they will succeed now."

His assistant hesitated, a flicker of concern crossing his face. "Sir, might I suggest considering donating your liver voluntarily? Grace might be touched by the gesture and see you in a different light."
