Danielle looked like she was about to burst a blood vessel. "And you don't worry at all! This is the most idiotic, irresponsible thing you have EVER done. Neither of you will ever be welcomed in a witch coven. Do you understand that?!" 

"I wasn't intending on going back," Maisie said honestly. "Too many rules. I like being on the outside and doing my own thing better."

"You're really leaving behind everything you ever knew because of DAMIEN?!" 

"It wasn't like I actually enjoyed being part of a coven. Why not?"

Danielle blustered but couldn't formulate any potential reasons into words. She angrily announced that she was taking a walk before storming out the front door. Well. That could have gone better. But it was about to get a lot worse. 

Simon looked at the two of them with ancient, knowing eyes. He saw right through them and it gave Maisie goosebumps.
