章 134: Chapter 117: No.

Kai barely had time to process what was happening before Hina's iron grip on his wrist yanked him along the busy street.

Kai could literally feel her anger boiling in her veins.

Her pace was relentless, her silence deafening.

"Hina," he tried to protest, stumbling slightly to keep up. "Where are we going?"

She didn't answer.

Her hand tightened, her fingers digging into his skin hard enough that he worried about his circulation.

The bustling noise of the street around them felt distant, muffled beneath the pounding of his own heart.

Finally, she turned sharply into an alleyway, dragging him behind her.

The dimly lit space was narrow and isolated, with no one else in sight.

It looked like she was about to kill him.

Before Kai could say another word, she shoved him hard against the wall, pinning him in place with her hands gripping his shoulders.

"What the hell were you doing?" Hina's voice was low, trembling with barely restrained anger.

Her eyes were piercing and deadly.

Kai's back pressed against the cold concrete, his pulse racing.

"What are you talking about?" he stammered.

"Don't play dumb with me," she snapped, her crimson eyes blazing with fury. "Haruto. Emi. What were you doing with them? Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?"

Kai swallowed hard, his mind scrambling for a response.

He knew better than to lie to Hina when she was like this, but the intensity of her anger made it difficult to form coherent thoughts.

He did that in a good way in order to not raise any kind of suspicion.

"They… they asked me to go with them," he admitted finally. "I didn't want to make things worse by refusing. I thought if I went along, I could figure out what Haruto was up to—"

Before he could finish, her hand cracked across his face in a sharp, stinging slap.

The sound echoed in the narrow alley, and for a moment, everything else seemed to freeze.

Kai's head turned slightly from the impact, his cheek burning, but he didn't move.

His eyes were open wide from shock, not expecting something like that from the love of his life.

"Do you even understand what you're saying?" Hina's voice broke, her hands trembling as they clutched his shirt.

Tears welled in her eyes, threatening to spill over.

"You could've been hurt. Or worse," she continued, her voice cracking with emotion. "Do you think I could live with myself if something happened to you? If they tried to use you—if they hurt you—"

She stopped, choking on her words, and suddenly threw her arms around him, burying her face against his chest.

Kai stood frozen for a moment, shocked by the raw vulnerability in her tone.

He felt the dampness of her tears soaking through his shirt.

Slowly, he raised his arms, wrapping them around her in a hesitant embrace.

"I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice barely audible. "I didn't mean to make you worry."

Hina shook her head against him. "You don't understand," she whispered. "I can't lose you, Kai. Not to them. Not to anyone."

She pulled back slightly, her hands gripping his arms tightly as she looked up at him.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, tears streaming down her cheeks, but there was something else in her expression—something darker.

"I hate her," she said suddenly, her voice laced with venom. "That Emi girl. Every time I see her near you, I just… I want to hurt her. To make her pay for even thinking she can talk to you like that. It's different from Naomi or Yuna. I can't stand the thought of her. I don't know… it's my jealousy speaking…"

Kai's breath hitched, startled by the intensity of her confession.

The words brought back memories—flashes of their earlier days together, when Hina's possessiveness had been overwhelming.

It had taken a lot of time for her to trust him enough to loosen her grip, to stop seeing every girl who spoke to him as a threat.

But now, that side of her was resurfacing, raw and unfiltered.

"Hina," he said gently, placing a hand on her cheek. "You don't have to feel that way. Emi doesn't mean anything to me—not like you do. You know that, right?"

She closed her eyes, leaning into his touch. "I know," she whispered. "But I can't help it. The thought of someone else taking you away from me… it makes me sick. Moreover… I have a bad feeling about her since our first meeting."

Kai pulled her into another embrace, holding her tightly. "I'm not going anywhere," he said softly. "I promise. And I'll be more careful from now on. No more stupid risks, okay?"

Hina nodded against him, her breathing slowly evening out as she clung to him like a lifeline.

For a moment, they stood there in the quiet alleyway, the tension between them dissolving into something softer, more fragile.

But the moment was interrupted by the sharp ring of Hina's phone.

She stiffened in his arms, reluctantly pulling away to check the caller ID.

"It's Akira," she said, her tone shifting instantly. Wiping her tears away with the back of her hand, she answered the call.

"What is it?" she asked, her voice steady but still tinged with residual emotion.

Kai couldn't hear the other end of the conversation, but he could tell from the change in Hina's expression that it wasn't good news.

"Understood," she said after a long pause. "We'll be ready."

She hung up and slipped the phone back into her pocket, her demeanor completely transformed.

"That was Akira," she said, turning back to Kai. "The plan to deal with Sabushi is moving forward. It's happening tomorrow night."

Kai's stomach dropped.

Sabushi the Brutal was a name that carried weight.

One of the most dangerous criminals in the area, known for his ruthless tactics and the trail of destruction he left in his wake.

"Hina," he began cautiously, "are you sure this is a good idea? Going after someone like him—"

"I don't have a choice," she interrupted, her voice firm. "If we don't act now, he'll only get stronger. And if we're not careful, he'll come for us first."

Her gaze softened slightly as she looked at him. "Don't worry, Kai. I'll make sure you're safe."

"But what about you?" he asked, his concern evident. "You're putting yourself in danger for this. I can't just stand by and do nothing."

Hina placed a hand on his cheek, her expression resolute. "I've faced worse. And I have Akira backing me up. We'll be fine."

Kai wasn't convinced, but he knew better than to argue when Hina had made up her mind.

"Just… promise me you'll be careful," he said finally.

"I will," she replied, her lips curling into a faint smile. "But for now, we should focus on what's next. We'll need to prepare."

Kai nodded, though unease still lingered in his chest.

As they stepped out of the alley and back into the bustling street, he couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to spiral even further out of control.
