The furnishings in the cabin were simple but complete. Roddy took down some dried meat from a rope, cut it into small pieces, then fetched a small iron pot from the cupboard in the corner of the room, went outside to scoop up some snow to melt, and cooked a pot of meat soup.

Chen Xiaolian and Bluesea had last eaten before leaving the town; it had been so long since then that they were ravenous, surviving only by sheer willpower. Although the meat soup was lacking in oil and salt, it was quickly consumed down to the last drop.

"Is that enough? Do you want me to make some more?"

Roddy had only sipped a few mouthfuls of soup before he put down his bowl, cupping his chin with his hands as he smiled at Chen Xiaolian.

Chen Xiaolian, having had half a pot of meat soup, was also full, but Bluesea seemed to still be wanting more.
