This is usually the phrase that monks would tell people who have sinned in the hopes of them changing. Speaking of monks, they would also call people ‘Benefactors’. It’s quite difficult to explain this term because it delves more into Buddhism. So they usually use this term to describe people who give to the religion with a heart of generosity and the likes.
