章 14: CHAPTER 13 - Old Mo’s Move.

Nightfall.

In the bustling southern district of S City, the usual liveliness persisted.

Atop a tall building, a middle-aged man with an ordinary appearance stood by a window, staring at the opulent entrance of a grand clubhouse. Staring at the message on his phone, he muttered to himself, "The master wants fish... Guess it's time to haul in the net..."

He adjusted his hat, covering the vicious scar on his forehead, then casually walked through the gilded doors of the clubhouse.

Not long after, the main roads of the southern district were disrupted by the sudden blaring of sirens.

"Whee—Whoo—Whee—"

The piercing sound of police cars echoed through the streets as a massive convoy roared past.

Onlookers—shoppers, vendors, and those enjoying late-night street food—stopped what they were doing, bewildered by the sight.

"What's going on? Who's getting busted?"

"Can't be a corruption case; this has to be a major gang sweep."

"Whoa, that's at least twenty cars... Wait, is that an armored vehicle?"

They were all shocked, surprised, uncertain, and even scared. The law enforcement convoy moved with precision, and all civilian vehicles instinctively pulled over, clearing the way.

The civilians, instead of being curious about what was going on, just hid, as the scale of this operation seemed bigger than any they had seen before.

This was just one scene among several unfolding simultaneously across the southern district.

Within minutes, every property associated with the Fierce Tiger Gang—including clubs, casinos, and loan offices—was surrounded. Armed officers moved swiftly, taking down targets with precision. Many gang members didn't even have time to react before they were cuffed and subdued.

......…

At the top floor of the "Golden Tiger Spa & Wellness Clubhouse", the infamous Tiger Lord of the southern underground scene was lounging comfortably. With women on either side and a massage therapist attending to him, he was engrossed in a massive plasma TV, oblivious to all that was going on.

When suddenly, the doors burst open.

A panicked subordinate rushed in, gasping, "Boss… Boss! We're in deep trouble!"

Tiger Lord frowned, his displeasure clear. "What have I always told you?" He growled, then added with a sigh, "Stay calm, always stay calm."

But this time, the subordinate didn't admire his boss's composed demeanor. Instead, he shouted in desperation, "Boss, we can't stay calm! The cops have surrounded us—and they're armed!"

"What?!"

Tiger Lord kicked over a footbath in shock and rushed to the window. If this guy was serious, then this wasn't time to be relaxing, and sure enough, the building was surrounded by police vehicles, including an armored car parked at the front entrance, flanked by heavily armed officers, making Li Hu's face turn pale.

With a force like that, this wasn't just a routine anti-vice operation.

His phone buzzed on the table, and the caller ID showed it was the second-in-command of the Fierce Tiger Gang. Tiger Lord quickly picked up, feeling uneasy for some reason.

"Boss, it's over! The cops are here to take me down!" The voice of the guy was heard, shouts and gunshots perceivable from the background. "I'm surrounded and can't get out! Boss, you have to—"

"Beep—"

But before the guy could even complete his words the line went dead, replaced by a cacophony of noise.

Tiger Lord's hands trembled. His last glimmer of hope was extinguished. If his second-in-command was captured, the rest of his men wouldn't fare any better.

The force below was clearly after him.

But this scale? Armored vehicles and assault rifles? It was absurd.

He quickly dismissed the women from the room and ordered his men to stall for some time while he retreated into his private office.

Opening a hidden safe, he retrieved documents proving the transfer of assets and stuffed them into his bag. He also grabbed a pistol from the desk drawer.

He was ready to run.

Fight back? Impossible. The pistol that once gave him a sense of invincibility was nothing but a toy against this kind of force.

Surrender? Even less likely. As a gang boss, his crimes were enough to warrant the death penalty several times over.

The thought of who could be behind this gnawed at him. The authorities had always turned a blind eye to his dealings. Who would suddenly pull strings to orchestrate this level of takedown?

Cursing under his breath, Tiger Lord moved to a hidden escape passage.

But as he opened the door, a tall figure in black appeared before him, exuding an air of menace.

"?!" His eyes widened and his hair stood to its end.

'Danger!' Sensing the threat, Tiger Lord reached for his pistol.

But the intruder was faster. A sharp slash injured his hand, sending the pistol clattering to the floor, and before Li Hu could even make another move, a powerful kick sent him sprawling back into the room.

Clutching his bleeding hand, Tiger Lord's eyes widened in terror, "W-wait! Who are you?"

The man, however, didn't answer. He picked up the pistol and shot Tiger Lord once, then approached him slowly.

Knowing his end was near, Tiger Lord could only plead, "At least let me die knowing—who sent you?"

'Father said that this guy was the reason Master couldn't take a man's eyes, right?' As that thought flashed in his mind, he picked up a shard of glass, bringing it close to Tiger Lord's face, and finally spoke, "This morning, you took something from my Master..."

The glass shard moved closer to Lu Hu's face and his eyes widened in terror. He tried to move away, but under the metal-like grip of the man, he couldn't even budge.

"Tonight, I'm here to take it back for him."

After those words, the only thing heard from the room was screams of agony as the man, Old Mo, took his eyes out for his Master's sake.

Shatter—Crash!

Soon, the sound of window glasses being shattered was heard and Li Hu's body was thrown out of it.

Two police officers were heading to the top floor, and on the way, they saw the man, but as he expertly joined the group of civilians escaping, the police officers failed to notice the blood on his black dress.

The officers, oblivious to what had just transpired, charged into the room.

Gunfire echoed moments later.

Soon after, a report crackled through the police radio: "Captain, we've found the suspect, Li Hu. He was armed and attempting to flee." The police officer was obviously lying, but no one could say anything to it as there was no one to prove the guy wrong.

"He was shot while trying to escape through the window." The guy added.

Both he and his friend who had followed behind were going to take the credit for taking down the leader of the gang—something that could receive a substantial sum of money even if not a badge or promotion.

But it was not without a reason—they did so because they found a letter left behind. On that letter were 100,000 Yuan, along with a note that said: "Take this small token of appreciation, and I also took care of Li Hu for you guys, so now, you can take the credit."

They didn't know who it was, but whoever it was, they sure as hell wished for them to live happily.

Not long after, on the next morning, the news of Li Hu's death was shown on TV, but the two police officers' wish for the one responsible for all that didn't seem to be coming true any time soon.
