It was a new day and during the early morning study session, most students in Class 3 of Senior Year were diligently working through test papers or memorizing their textbooks.
But two people were exceptions: Ye Feng and his friend sitting behind him, a chubby boy.
The chubby boy's family owned a factory, and he had long accepted that his academic prospects were bleak. So, he decided to slack off and coast through school.
However, knowing Ye Feng's family circumstances, he always tried not to disturb his friend's studies. Yet, it was always Ye Feng who initiated conversations, chatting endlessly. But recently, Ye Feng's grades improved significantly, so the chubby boy wasn't too worried.
"Yeah, as I was saying, I bashed that guy's teeth, and won the match!"
So, even though he felt that Ye Feng was exaggerating things, he just smiled at his words, nodding his head at everything.
"You are so strong, man." The chubby guy spoke, not speaking against Ye Feng as he didn't want his friend to feel bad, just praised him, making Ye Feng raise his nose higher.
"Right? Hehe." Ye Feng ignored the annoyed looks from nearby classmates, who could obviously not take his nonsense, continued bantering with his friend.
As far as Ye Feng was concerned, aside from Xia Lianxin, no one else's opinions mattered, and from the looks of it, she didn't seem to have any problem.
It was then that the sound of the classroom's door being slid open was heard, and the students went quiet as it was a teacher who had stepped in.
Ye Feng turned to look at the one who had entered the class, hoping that it was not the baldy math teacher but his English teacher, and much to his surprise, it really was her, Liu Quingshuang. So, he quickly straightened up, sat properly, and picked up his English book, pretending to study vocabulary.
But out of the corner of his eye, he was secretly watching Liu Quingshuang.
Dressed impeccably in professional attire that accentuated her graceful figure, Liu Quingshuang looked stunning, and Ye Feng couldn't help but let his imagination wander.
Although Ye Feng frequently bragged and joked to the chubby guy about being experienced with women and whatnot, in reality, he was just a virgin, who did nothing but imagine things.
In the past, he didn't have the courage to approach girls. But now, ordinary girls didn't even catch his attention.
Despite his close ties with Brother Hu, a gangster, Ye Feng had never visited any of the clubs under Hu's control. He felt that only women like Xia Lianxin or Liu Quingshuang—pure and beautiful—were the only ones worthy of him.
He had even fantasized about the two of them serving him together.
As for Liu Quingshuang's fiancé, Ye Feng didn't care at all. To him, that man was just another brainless rich kid.
Ye Feng's confidence stemmed from two things: his X-ray vision and an extraordinary legacy.
His eyes were originally slightly nearsighted, but one day, he stumbled upon a strange pair of glasses. Out of curiosity, he put them on. In an instant, the glasses fused into his eyes.
To his surprise, his nearsightedness was cured, and he gained a special ability—X-ray vision.
Before he could fully process his excitement, another miracle occurred.
While rescuing an old man from a group of thugs, Ye Feng discovered that the man was none other than the legendary assassin king!
The old man declared that Ye Feng had exceptional talent and decided to make him his heir, passing down a secret martial arts technique.
Before long, Ye Feng believed he would become the next king of assassins.
With such abilities and status, even the richest tycoons seemed insignificant to him. So people like Fang Haoran seemed small to him.
All they have is wealth, something one can get with enough power—this was what he believed. But if Fang Haoran were to listen to those words, he would just laugh at them.
Money is nothing? Well, maybe it is for you right now, but you must know that the reason you lost 20 times to Fang Haoran was that money itself.
Only when he saw Liu Quingshuan walking toward him did he snap out of his fantasies about his glorious future. Her expression was cold, and upon closer inspection, there were dark circles under her eyes that couldn't be hidden. Her eyes were red, and a bit swollen as well.
"Ye Feng, step outside for a moment." Words cold like he had never heard before were spat at him as Lin Quingshuang, without even waiting for his reply, walked toward the hallway, leaving Ye Feng sitting on his seat with a puzzled expression.
But soon, as she had asked to, Ye Feng obediently followed her.
When in the hallway, Liu Quingshuang handed him a piece of paper without any explanation, and Ye Feng, although confused, tried to lift his left hand to take it but found it difficult to move. So, awkwardly smiling, he switched to his right hand and accepted the paper.
On it were a few English sentences, making Ye Feng turn toward Quingshuang with a questioning look.
"Ye Feng, translate these sentences," Liu Quingshuang said when she saw him looking at her, making Ye Feng go silent.
"…"
Looking at the "alien scribbles" on the page, Ye Feng's mind went blank. He couldn't make sense of them and could only stammer an excuse.
"Well… uh… Teacher Liu… some of the words are a bit too advanced… I haven't memorized them yet…" He could do nothing but scratch his head awkwardly, unable to translate a single word.
Liu Quingshuang, on the other hand, had a frosty glint flash past her eyes when she saw Ye Feng's flustered response.
The sentences indeed contained some difficult words, but those words had appeared multiple times in recent exams.
How could a supposedly "hardworking and eager-to-learn top student" who constantly asked her questions not know them?
Thinking about this, Liu Quingshuang's gaze shifted to Ye Feng's injured left hand. Now was the perfect time to verify the truth.
If Ye Feng really knew those gang members, they wouldn't have broken his hand seriously—after all, a serious injury like that could leave lasting consequences.
If Ye Feng was uninjured, it would prove that Fang Haoran's intel was correct, and if his hand was truly broken, she could just send him to the hospital and give him some compensation.
Right now, Liu Quingshuang only wanted to uncover the truth. It was something that had tortured her the whole night. She would've never believed Fang Haoran if he had given this news to her, it was just how the plot was supposed to be, but predicting it, Haoran gave it to her parents.
Those actions put more pressure on Quingshuang as her parents seemed to be doubting her as well, making her think about it more than she could've, so now, she was here to verify.
She quickly grabbed Ye Feng's hand, catching him off guard, and before he could react, Liu Quingshuang had already ripped off the cast with force.
"Teacher Liu, you—"
Ye Feng frowned, wanting to know what that was for, trying to pull his hand away but stopped when he saw the murderous look in her eyes.
Liu Quingshung's eyes, filled with blazing anger reflected nothing but a shallow scratch that wasn't even three centimeters long on Ye Feng's hand, and even though Liu Quingshuang wasn't a doctor, she could tell from Ye Feng's strong resistance and lack of pain that his hand was perfectly fine.
'S-Shit...' Ye Feng, on the other hand, cursed under his breath as he hadn't expected Liu Quingshuang to test his injury directly.
Since the bandages were hastily applied for a show, he now felt a bit guilty.
He began to mumble an explanation. "Teacher Liu, it's nothing serious… my mom just insisted…"
"Enough, Ye Feng!"
But Liu Quingshuang cut him off angrily, her voice sharp and cold, getting angrier as she heard Ye Feng blame his mother for what he had done.
She gave up all hope of teaching him. He was nothing but a waste bastard.
"Ye Feng, don't come to me again." She spat, coldly staring at him, "I won't teach you anymore."
With that, with anger evident on her face, she walked away, and Ye Feng, watching Liu Quingshuang storm off in anger, just sighed. "Jeez, no need to get so worked up, right?"
Still, deep down, he wasn't too worried. "Whatever. I'll apologize after school. She's my woman, after all—I have to keep her happy."
With those words, he shrugged, walking back into the class, not realizing that he had just lost something significant.
