"You need to behave there." Oriana smiled at the knight offering her hand as she entered the carriage. Olivia followed, lowering her head.
"After pressing my nerves so much and enjoying the meal like you have been starving recently, I hope you leave a good impression on his highness. It was hard to invite him. He must like you Olivia." Olivia paused. A dark memory flashing in front of her eyes.
She had no doubt that Edward would agree to take her to the palace. But about liking her..
"You are nothing but a beautiful vase with no essence, Olivia. Even if you have a kind heart, you are not for me. I have already endured enough, you should leave now." his words had broken her heart in her past life.
Living with him for a year, she had believed that he would eventually marry her. Or at least keep her as a concubine. He was so kind to her on occasion and cold to her too. As she remembered Abi and Oriana's interaction, she couldn't help but compare Abi to herself.
"I will try my best. I am sure your maids would confirm it for you." the maid sitting on the other side flinched. Her face turned red instantly.
"Olivia! The maid is to take care of you. She would help you in dressing up and putting on make -up like today." Oriana held Olivia's hands in her palm and patted it. "Men only care about two things when it comes to women. Even the shrewd and cold man who lacks emotions is not an exception. As long as you look beautiful and boost their pride, they will love you.
She will make sure that you look beautiful. As a perfect trophy which he could show to the public and enjoy in private too. And you have to make sure that you boost his pride. It is simple. Isn't it? Think Olivia, then you would not have to live like a commoner in a noble's palace. You would be a royalty. Those who had looked down on you and ignored you in my parties would bow down in front of you." Her words were like the words of a siren.
Oriana knew how to touch the weak points of a person and show them the world they desire. Olivia could see how Oriana's voice was dreamy. Alas! Power was not her dream or Oriana's words would have worked.
She never wanted power in her past life. And in this life, all she wanted was to live.
"You have all that power. Are you happy now, Oriana?" Oriana paused in her speech. Her brows furrowed as if she did not understand the question.
"I am wearing the finest silt that was only reserved for the royal family. The prince had to oblige if I called for him, Olivia. Do you think I lack power" Olivia shook her head.
"No, I am sure you have a lot of power. But are you happy?" Oriana frowned harder when she heard the question again.
"Olivia, I have a lot of gold and jewels. I have shope and properties on my name. Can you not see it." Olivia smiled slightly and did not continue. But her smile only made Oriana infuriated.
"Do not make a fool of yourself there." Oriana spat the words harsh and leaned on her seat. She did not want to communicate with a fool.
Silence fell in the carriage. Olivia was lost in her thoughts again.
When the carriage stopped in front of a large building, a knight helped them in descending instead of a footman.
The building was shining brightly, almost blinding others with its brightness.
There were tens of carriages around. Noblemen and women walking toward the building with a smile on their faces.
"This place has become the most popular place for dating or spending leisure time. Was it Athelia with the count's son? I heard that her mother was pining for marquees as her son saw." Oriana smiled lightly as she held Olivia;s hands and walked in.
Casually nodding at other nobles who smiled and greeted her but did not stop even when they wanted to initiate a conversation.
Olivia walked beside her like a perfect doll. Only smiling and not opening her mouth even once until they reached the third floor. The red and golden walls had sconces where large candles burnt.
It gave the area a dreamy look. Olivia watched as they passed through the room booked for the prince. In the past, they have stopped there.
"We are not going to be impatient. We will enter the room booked by the duke, let them invite us." invited by the prince? How did Oriana get that much confidence?
What if Edward did not invite them? She still needed the compensation from him!
"Umm, sister.."
"Relax!" Oriana looked pleased with panicking Olivia. 'So much that you only wanted small happiness but now you are panicked that you would not get attention from the prince.' She held Olivia's hands and guided her to their seats.
There were two large seats in the center of the room. A large table on the left, filled with all kinds of assortments. A small table on the left where the brochures of upcoming shows in the theatres were spread with the script of this one.
A large glass wall where they could see the show clearly but others could not pry in their room. It was magnificent. Oriana picked up a piece of cheese and sat casually on her seat.
"You can not be hungry again. Right?" she laughed tenderly. "Come Olivia, practice with me as if I am the man you were looking for. After your little experience in dating, you should be better now!" She had experience in dating? Olivia frowned as she walked closer and sat beside Oriana.
"Greet me and give me a seductive look first."
"Your highness." Olivia stood up again and curtsied. "It is my honor to meet you here."
