章 2: Magical Powers

(Ok...no music again and wanted to say I only watched Arcane ,so the novel after finishing Arcane will be the travel in other worlds with Jinx and Aegis who BTW don't know anything of these world, no plot knowing cheat for him.)

---

"Aegis, are you experiencing memory loss again?" The man's voice was calm, though his mismatched eyes bore into Aegis with quiet intensity. "Do you remember me, your father, Silco?"

Aegis blinked, his mind swirling with confusion and unease. "Father?" he muttered, his voice low and skeptical.

"F*ck, System! What should I do? Who is this creepy man calling himself Silco?" he screamed internally, hoping for some kind of answer.

[Due to the host's soul residing within the system space, only a small fragment of it was attached to this new body. This fragmentation has caused memory retention issues. Important information will now be transmitted to the host.]

Aegis's breath hitched as a sharp wave of heat surged through his head. His vision blurred, and fragments of a foreign life began to flood his mind.

When Aegis's vision cleared, he found himself on his knees, gasping for air. Silco stood unmoved, watching him intently.

"You remember now, don't you?" Silco said, his tone quiet yet commanding.

Aegis slowly rose to his feet. His mind still raced, but there was clarity amidst the confusion. He nodded hesitantly. "I… I remember. Some of it."

"Good." Silco stepped closer, placing a hand on Aegis's shoulder. "You are my son, Aegis. You are part of Zaun now. And together, we will build something greater than any of them could ever imagine."

"Ok you can go get some rest now"

[The host's memories have successfully synchronized. The Arcane system has now unlocked awakening abilities.]

Later, when Aegis finally found himself alone in a secluded part of the underground city, the Arcane system's voice echoed in his mind.

[Congratulations, host. Your awakening Magical powers are now available.]

"Magical powers?" Aegis muttered, his hands curling into fists.

[The first is Space Cut—the ability to slice through anything, including barriers, dimensions, and even the fabric of reality itself.]

As if in demonstration, a thin, shimmering blade of energy extended from Aegis's hand. He instinctively swung it, and the air in front of him seemed to split open, revealing a brief, dark void before sealing itself again.

Aegis stared, wide-eyed. "This… this is insane!"

[The second is Rewind Time—the ability to reverse time by some seconds, allowing for a second chance in critical moments.]

Aegis took a deep breath, his mind reeling from the possibilities. He clenched his fists, his red eyes glinting with determination. "With these powers… I'll carve out my path in this messed-up world. No one will betray me again."

A sinister grin spread across his face. "No. No one will dare to even try."

"I, Aegis, can do whatever I want," he declared, the raw confidence in his voice echoing through the empty space around him.

But then his excitement faltered, his body trembling slightly as a wave of exhaustion washed over him.

[The host cannot fully use these abilities at will due to your young age and low mana reserves.]

"Tch," Aegis muttered, frustrated. "It seems I'll need to solve this problem… in the future." He sighed, forcing himself to let go of his impatience. He had time—time to grow, time to learn.

---

After some rest, Aegis decided to explore the streets of Zaun. The air was thick with smog, and the narrow alleyways were a maze of crumbling brick walls and haphazard pipes leaking steam.

"This place… it's even worse than I imagined," he murmured, his eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings.

Children darted through the streets, their faces smeared with grime, while shady figures lingered in the shadows, their eyes sharp and watchful. Aegis kept his head down, blending in as best he could.

As he turned a corner, his steps faltered. A group of rough-looking men blocked the alley ahead, their faces marked with scars and hardened expressions. They noticed him immediately.

"Well, what do we have here?" one of them sneered, stepping forward. "A little lost bird wandering into the wrong nest."

Aegis tensed, his mind racing. They don't know who I am… but I'm just a kid right now. They'll try something.

The tallest of the group chuckled darkly, cracking his knuckles. "Maybe the kid's got something valuable on him. Let's find out."

The men began closing in, their movements slow and deliberate. Aegis backed away, his heart pounding.

"Stay back!" he warned, his voice steady despite his fear.

One of the men laughed. "Or what? You gonna cry for mommy?"

As the first thug lunged, Aegis instinctively raised his hand, summoning a faint flicker of his power. A shimmering line of energy appeared for a moment, and the man stumbled back, startled by the sudden force.

But it wasn't enough. The energy fizzled out as quickly as it came, leaving Aegis vulnerable.

"Looks like the bird's got claws," another man sneered, "but they're pretty dull!"

Just as they closed the distance, a loud, gravelly voice boomed through the alley.

"That's enough!"

The men froze, their faces paling as they turned to the source of the voice.

A large figure stepped out of the shadows—a man with broad shoulders and a mechanical arm that hissed softly with steam. His expression was calm, but his presence radiated authority.

"Benzo…" one of the thugs muttered, taking a step back.

Benzo's eyes swept over the group before settling on Aegis. "You're lucky I showed up," he said, his tone gruff but not unkind. Then, addressing the thugs, he growled, "You think preying on kids makes you tough? Get out of here before I make you regret it."

The men hesitated for a moment but quickly scattered, muttering curses under their breath.

Benzo walked over to Aegis, his expression softening slightly. "You alright, kid?"

Aegis nodded, though his pride stung. "I didn't need your help," he said, crossing his arms.

Benzo raised an eyebrow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Sure you didn't." He gestured for Aegis to follow. "Come on. You shouldn't be wandering these streets alone. Zaun isn't kind to strays."

Reluctantly, Aegis followed, his mind already working on how to make sure no one would ever see him as a "stray" again.

"I need to master my powers to kill anyone threatening me again. They are lucky that I have low mana and can't use space cut or..."
