"Zapdos!? It's really Zapdos!?"
"Why is this Legendary Pokémon here!?"
The crowd erupted into astonished chatter. The sudden appearance of Zapdos captivated their attention even more than the massive Tentacruel.
Just as someone considered abandoning the Tentacool and Tentacruel to follow Zapdos, they witnessed it flying at incredible speed toward the giant Tentacruel and launching an attack!
"What!? It's attacking the giant Tentacruel!?"
People were stunned momentarily before realizing something.
"Does Zapdos already have a Trainer?"
Their eyes followed the direction Zapdos had come from. After searching, they finally spotted a figure on the TV tower a man wearing a black robe and a Gengar mask.
The man's identity was obscured; his face and age were indeterminate due to the distance and the mask.
The crowd could only see his mouth moving slightly, as though giving commands.
On the roof, Kai stood on the edge of the tower, glancing down nervously. "Haunter... I'm starting to think I'm a little afraid of heights. My legs are shaking so much...!"
From within Kai's shadow, Haunter's eyes gleamed. It sighed in exasperation. "If you're scared of heights, you should step back. Stop looking down and focus on Zapdos's battle!"
"No way!" Kai replied with determination. "You can only overcome fear by facing it head-on. But... if I accidentally fall, you'll save me, right? Hey, why are you quiet all of a sudden? Say something!"
Haunter emerged slightly, feigning annoyance. "Ugh, I didn't realize you could be this chatty. Fine, if you fall, I'll catch you exactly 0.01 meters before you hit the ground. Maybe then you'll learn how scary a Haunter rescue can be! Hehehehheheheh"
Haunter's dark humour lightened Kai's mood. Looking below, he saw his other Pokémon battling countless Tentacools under Misty's command.
"She is handling them better than expected," Kai thought to himself.
The crowd was captivated. Many began recording Kai and Zapdos with their phones.
"Good thing I planned ahead," Kai mused. "Otherwise, I'd be completely exposed by now."
In the distance, Zapdos soared around the massive Tentacruel, electricity surging from its wings as it attacked.
The Tentacruel retaliated, firing laser-like beams from the ruby atop its head.
Despite being struck multiple times by Zapdos's electric attacks, the enormous Tentacruel seemed unfazed, its durability boosted by its sheer size.
Kai shouted, "Zapdos! Don't hold back use Thunderbolt!"
As if hearing him through the wind, Zapdos unleashed an overwhelming surge of electricity.
Lightning radiated in all directions, hitting not only the Tentacruel but also the Tentacool surrounding it.
The Tentacool were instantly incapacitated, floating unconscious on the water's surface.
Finally, the giant Tentacruel roared in pain, its tentacles writhing.
One of its tentacles lifted Meowth Team Rocket's Meowth, to be precise. Controlled by poison affecting its nervous system, Meowth's voice echoed with Tentacruel's fury:
"We are Tentacruel and Tentacool! You humans destroyed our habitat, so we will destroy your city in revenge! Feel the despair of losing your home!"
Tentacruel turned its gaze toward Zapdos.
"And you! You're a Pokémon like us why side with humans!?"
Zapdos's response was swift and decisive: another thunderous strike.
Tentacruel, enraged, lashed out with its many tentacles, but not one grazed Zapdos's feathers.
Realizing Zapdos was untouchable, Tentacruel shifted its attention to Kai, moving its massive body toward the TV tower.
Any Pokémon in its path was mercilessly swatted aside. Seeing this, Kai acted quickly.
"Zapdos! Stop it with Drill Peck!"
Zapdos swooped down, spinning rapidly in midair. Its beak glowed as it struck Tentacruel with tremendous force. Tentacruel roared in pain, the impact echoing across the city.
The battle left spectators in awe.
"Wow... incredible!"
"Is this the power of a Legendary Pokémon!?"
Trainers, including Ash and Brock, gazed at Zapdos with admiration.
As tempting as it was for any trainer to imagine capturing a Legendary Pokémon, Tentacruel wasn't defeated yet.
It fired a powerful laser beam directly at the TV tower, striking the structure near Kai's position.
The impact caused the tower to tremble and collapse under Kai's feet. As debris fell, Kai plummeted toward the ground but Zapdos swooped in and caught him just in time.
"Hah!" Kai exhaled in relief. His heart pounded from the close call. "Tentacruel sure knows how to aim for the leader... Thanks, Zapdos! After all the hits you've taken, you still saved me!"
For a moment, Zapdos considered dropping him again.
Suddenly, Tentacruel fired another round of beams. Carrying Kai, Zapdos's speed was hindered, and it narrowly avoided the attacks.
"This isn't working," Kai muttered. "Zapdos! Use that move!"
Zapdos nodded, and Kai leapt off its back, astonishing the crowd.
In a breathtaking display, Kai seemed to defy gravity, gliding effortlessly back to the tower's top. His descent against the wind left onlookers speechless.
"My god! How did he do that!?" someone exclaimed.
