Chapter 48: Golden Entry - Joy Conversion

---

[Golden Entry: Joy Conversion] – Enables Pokémon to generate joy points that can be converted into entry tokens. Only the trainer's Pokémon can generate joy points. The stronger the Pokémon, the higher the joy points.

Hikaru: "???"

What is this?

Generating joy points from Pokémon to earn entry tokens?

[Kirlia, under the trainer's affection, feels joy and has gained 1 joy point (convertible to 1 entry token).]

This… is this the fulfillment of my wish from the [Chance Encounter] entry?

Looking over at Kirlia, who seemed content despite its minor injuries, Hikaru decided to experiment. He gently began massaging Kirlia's shoulders.

[Kirlia, under the trainer's affection, feels joy and has gained 1 joy point (convertible to 1 entry token).]

Kirlia glanced curiously at Hikaru. Why was he so touchy today? But it wasn't bad. In fact, it liked this treatment.

(*´▽`)~♡

Unbothered by Kirlia's reaction, Hikaru continued to pamper his Pokémon. After working his way through all three, he realized he had accumulated over sixty joy points.

Sixty tokens just like that!

If this rate continued, wouldn't he achieve six thousand tokens in just a hundred days?

"Truly worthy of being a golden entry!" Hikaru couldn't help but marvel.

He turned to his Pokémon. "Rest well. Tomorrow, we'll challenge that Pidgeot again!"

"Kir!" (Yay!)

"Char!"

"Frog!"

---

Over the next few days, Hikaru relentlessly sought out Pidgeot in the secret realm. Like a stubborn shadow, he repeatedly challenged it to battles.

Pidgeot grew increasingly irritated. Just as it was about to defeat Hikaru's team, they'd vanish with a Teleport.

Soon after, once healed, they'd return for another round. It was as if they saw Pidgeot as nothing more than a grindstone for experience.

By December 4th, their efforts bore fruit.

Charmeleon had reached level 27.

Frogadier had reached level 24.

Kirlia had reached level 26.

Their continuous improvement left Pidgeot completely exasperated.

---

That day, Pidgeot, panting heavily, stared down the trio closing in on it once more. Its once-pristine feathers were now ruffled and dirty, its pride utterly tarnished.

Energy completely drained, Pidgeot landed on the ground, folding its wings around itself in surrender. It lowered its proud head, assuming this persistent human wanted to capture it.

"Good job, everyone!" Hikaru cheered.

The three Pokémon also wore expressions of pride and resilience after their hard-fought battles.

"Pidgeot, thank you for everything! If I have the chance, I'll come back to visit you."

Hikaru took out a few flying-type energy cubes and placed them near Pidgeot. It was only fair to offer a token of gratitude for all the trouble he'd caused.

"Pidgeot?"

Pidgeot froze.

It was ready to surrender itself, but this human was offering it treats instead?

Watching Hikaru and his Pokémon leave with laughter and camaraderie, a flicker of confusion and admiration passed through Pidgeot's sharp eyes.

It briefly considered following them but hesitated. The Pidgey and Pidgeotto of this realm needed its protection, especially with the ongoing conflict against the Spearow clan.

---

With the new month came a new entry refresh.

Hikaru's rapid accumulation of joy points from his Pokémon had significantly increased his token count. In just ten days, he had amassed over 500 tokens.

This month's entry went to Kirlia:

[Purple Entry: Illusory] – Exclusive to psychic-type Pokémon. Allows the user to become intangible for 3 seconds. During this period, no attack can hit. Cooldown: 24 hours.

Three seconds of invincibility!

Kirlia's entries had always felt lacking, but now, with an additional slot purchased, this ability was a perfect addition.

"Hmm? Snow?"

When Hikaru had first entered the secret realm, it was autumn. By the time he emerged, winter had arrived.

The snow's quiet beauty dampened his excitement. A sense of loneliness crept in as he remembered he had no family in this world.

"Kir?" (Why do you feel that way, Hikaru? Don't you still have us?)

Hovering nearby, Kirlia gently patted his shoulder in comfort.

"You're right. I do have you all," Hikaru replied with a smile, ruffling Kirlia's hair affectionately.

---

Returning to Shuimu City, Hikaru headed straight for the shower to scrub off the grime of his wilderness adventure. Feeling refreshed, he powered on his long-dead phone.

The moment it turned on, a flood of messages overwhelmed the screen.

Among them was one from Sakura, who was far away in the capital city. She had sent a photo of herself in a swimsuit, standing on a sunny beach with her Dragonair by her side.

"Brother, the inheritance was a success! My Dragonair is now mid-Gym level. Work hard and catch up, okay?"

The message was three days old.

"Got it," Hikaru replied simply, marveling at the stark difference their backgrounds made.

Yuki not only had connections but also a Dragonair from Dragon Island. Together, these dual advantages created opportunities that ordinary trainers could only dream of.

---

Next were messages from Yuki, who'd grown increasingly concerned over his absence.

At first, she sent casual inquiries about his whereabouts. As the days went by and he remained silent, her tone grew more worried.

Was she genuinely concerned for him?

Hikaru quickly explained he'd been in a secret realm without signal and apologized for causing her to worry.

[Yuki]: Fine, fine. Just make sure to tell me next time, okay? I was worried about you!

Her message was accompanied by an angry Alolan Vulpix sticker.

[Hikaru]: Got it!

After replying to a few more messages from his coach and other friends, Hikaru reflected on his secret realm journey.

---

Gains from the Secret Realm:

1. Treasures:

Due to his focus on battles, Hikaru hadn't prioritized treasure hunting. Still, he collected items worth approximately one million Pokédollars.

2. Experience:

His three Pokémon had made significant progress.

3. Insights on Wild Pokémon:

Contrary to popular belief, wild Pokémon weren't clueless without trainers.

Instead, their instincts and combat experience often gave them an edge in survival.

Unlike trainer Pokémon, which relied on tactics, wild Pokémon typically unleashed their strongest moves right away in hopes of quickly overwhelming their opponents.
