The Third Hokage glanced at his two old comrades, his voice calm but firm.
"I've decided to imprison Danzo indefinitely. During this period, no one is allowed to visit him—not the Shimura clan, and not even you two."
It was not a suggestion or discussion. It was an ultimatum. Danzo Shimura needed to be dealt with decisively.
Mitokadu Homura chuckled bitterly, shaking his head.
"Go visit him? Why would I dare?"
Koharu Utatane, feeling the sting of Homura's remark, suspected he was mocking her but couldn't say for sure.
She quickly spoke up, "Hiruzen, rest assured. I won't go to Danzo, even if he sends someone to contact me. I'll stay away."
Her voice carried a trace of fear. She had no intention of getting involved with Danzo any further, especially with the way things were spiraling. Associating with him now would only bring trouble—not just for her, but for her entire family.
The Hokage sighed in relief. "If you can truly stick to that, it puts my mind at ease."
His tone softened, though the frustration remained.
"Koharu, Homura, you know how much I've done for Danzo over the years. I've tolerated his schemes time and again. But the village is in a fragile state, and stability is paramount. I can't allow him to jeopardize that anymore."
Later, after some small talk to lighten the mood, the two advisors left the Hokage's office.
As they exited, Koharu turned to Homura.
"Homura, wait a moment. Can we talk?"
Homura, who had been walking at a leisurely pace, suddenly picked up speed. His face stiffened as if he were fleeing from a wild beast. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared down the road.
Koharu stood frozen, her face reddening in embarrassment.
At home, Shinki was finally able to rest. As he lay down, Tsunade's voice drifted over.
"Was it about that old man Danzo again?"
"Yeah," Shinki replied, glancing at her. She hadn't even opened her eyes.
"He went looking for trouble with the Uchiha, got stopped by one of my puppets, and now the Hokage has decided to lock him up indefinitely."
Tsunade barely reacted, muttering, "Good. Saves us some trouble."
Shinki smirked and settled in for a nap. But just as he was drifting off, a hand snuck under the blanket.
Elsewhere in the house, Kushina was struggling to sleep. A faint thumping noise from upstairs disturbed her rest.
Groggily, she sat up and rubbed her eyes.
"Big Fox, are you knocking on the floor? It's so noisy."
Inside her sealed space, Kurama grinned mischievously.
"Kid, someone upstairs is... um, let's just say they're busy doing something important."
The Nine-Tails realized his words were a bit crude and quickly rephrased.
"Reproduction?" Kushina's sleepy brain caught the word, and her face turned beet red. She glanced at the ceiling, muttering, "Shameless."
She sighed, frustrated. Why am I still a child?
The next morning, Kushina sat at the breakfast table, grumpy and tired. Tsunade smirked at her.
"Rough night?"
"Yeah," Kushina grumbled. "Some people were smashing the floor early in the morning. How's a kid supposed to sleep?"
Tsunade chuckled. "Then maybe we'll try to be quieter next time."
Kushina turned red, glaring at her.
After breakfast, Shinki and Tsunade left for work, leaving Kushina alone. She slumped in her chair, exhausted.
"Kurama, can we take it easy today? I'm so tired."
The Nine-Tails chuckled.
"If you slack off now, do you think someone like Tsunade will give you a chance to win Shinki? You need to work harder!"
Kushina froze, the words hitting her like a bolt of lightning.
"You're right! I can't let her overshadow me. Let's train! Double the effort today!"
Kurama smirked, satisfied. Kushina's fiery determination was one of the few things he genuinely admired.
Meanwhile, the village faced mounting challenges. The pension distribution caused financial strain, forcing the Hokage to seek support from the Hyuga and Uchiha clans.
On the battlefield, the war dragged on. Orochimaru, now leading forces on the frontlines, was growing increasingly frustrated.
"Sir, we've lost contact with three teams. We don't know if it's due to weather conditions or enemy action," a subordinate reported.
Orochimaru's golden eyes narrowed. The Sand Ninja had changed their tactics, refusing direct confrontations. Instead, they played a game of attrition, drawing Konoha forces deeper into unfamiliar terrain.
"Fools," Orochimaru muttered, his expression grim. "This war is becoming a test of patience—and we don't have time to play games."
