He was supposed to be miles away, attending a business trip, but the meeting was cut short. His client had a family emergency. Therefore, they had to reschedule.

But instead of going to his office to work, which was his routine, his feet dragged him toward his wife's cubicle, knowing he would still find her there working overtime.

"I'm sorry..."

He knew he had made a mistake when he heard the tone of her voice as she rejected him. What could he expect when he had always been clear to her that their relationship was just a contract?

He did not date or do relationships. So, what was he doing now, asking his wife out by disguising it as work dinner when he was well aware he had no work to discuss with her?

What is wrong with me?

He did not know what possessed him to ask her for a ride home and dinner. He had never done anything like that before.
