章 22: Chapter 22: Successful Robbery
On the deck, the two were evenly matched. Bellal's strength was incredibly powerful, but every time his attacks made contact with Snow Bear's body, the force would dissipate completely, making it difficult for him to pose any real threat to Snow Bear.
Snow Bear's Devil Fruit ability only weakens his opponent's strength, not their defense. Coupled with Bellal's cylindrical snake body, which often absorbs most of the impact, Snow Bear currently has no way to deal a fatal blow to Bellal.
Neither of these two's offensive abilities were having much effect. They could only stand on the deck, waiting for the other's strength to run out. Originally, both of them had considered calling for backup, but their subordinates were either entangled with powerful enemies or were caught in a mutually destructive battle, with no ability to provide support.
"Still not done? You two really are slow. If this goes on much longer, it looks like it will be dark for real," Kado walked over, glancing at the already setting sun, and joked.
"Hmph, you're still not dead?" Bellal glanced at Kado, then turned his attention back to Snow Bear. His recent encounter with Kado made him think he had a good understanding of Kado's strength. He believed that Kado posed no real threat to them.
"Little brother, if you help me get the Golden-scaled Fish, I'll give you 300 million Berries. You know, a Devil Fruit is only worth about 200 million Berries, so you'll definitely come out ahead," Snow Bear promised. However, Kado didn't believe him. Once Bellal was dealt with, Snow Bear would definitely go back on his word.
"Hehe, didn't I already say? The Golden-scaled Fish is definitely mine. You two can forget about it," Kado said.
"Hmph, do you think you can escape with the Golden-scaled Fish? Once my subordinates take care of their opponents, I'll make sure you wish you were dead," Bellal said, filled with anger, threatening him.
"When I was looking for the Golden-scaled Fish in the bottom of the cabin earlier, I also found three people hanging from the ceiling," Kado shrugged and looked at Bellal. "From what they said, it seems you're really a piece of trash. Now, I just want to ask you one thing: is what they said true?"
"Asshole, you mean to tell me you got those pieces of shit out of there, wait for me there, I'll kill you". Upon hearing Kado's words, Bellal was instantly enraged. The murderous look in his eyes intensified, and his movements quickened, causing Snow Bear to feel flustered and panicked.
"I'm asking you, is what they said true? Were they really your companions? Did you really persecute them just because they couldn't defeat their opponents?!" Kado shouted.
"Haha, how could those trash be called my companions? If it weren't for them, how could I have failed on the Grand Line? If it weren't for them, I'd still be sailing the Grand Line, maybe even in the New World by now. People like them deserve harsh punishment. Let others see what happens to those who don't put in the effort, let them see what happens to those who are defeated by their enemies!" Bellal laughed wildly, as if he had done something very honorable.
"Hmph, I'm starting to dislike you."
After Kado muttered these words, his body moved in an instant. In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Bellal and his fist slammed into Bellal's mocking face.
"Thud."
A mouthful of blood spurted out of Bellal's mouth, with a snow-white snake's fang mixed in.
Suddenly struck by a heavy blow, Bellal was knocked to the ground. His snake body convulsed in pain, writhing as he covered his mouth with both hands, rolling back and forth on the deck.
"What an annoying guy," Kado kicked Bellal's snake body, saying disdainfully.
Snow Bear, standing to the side, was utterly shocked. His movements froze as he stared wide-eyed at Kado, who looked completely casual, as if he hadn't just knocked down a pirate with a bounty of over 50 million, but rather swatted away a fly. The strength Kado was showing now was completely different from before. If he had been like a kitten earlier, he was now like a tiger.
"Kid, I'm gonna kill you."
Bellal, lying on the ground, his snake body writhing, transformed his head into that of a giant serpent. His mouth opened wide, and he lunged toward Kado's head, aiming to bite it off.
Bellal's teeth had already regrown, so it seemed that his ability to regenerate quickly was likely a characteristic of his Devil Fruit power.
Looking at the huge mouth that was about to bite his head, Kado didn't panic. Kado gathered all the Armament Haki around his body to his head and then delivered a powerful headbutt straight into Bellal's massive mouth.
Two crisp cracking sounds rang out as Kado's headbutt broke Bellal's long fangs. The broken teeth were even driven directly into his throat by the immense force, with the sharp teeth almost slicing through Bellal's slender snake tongue.
Kado, whose head contained the Armament Haki, directly smashed Bellal's head almost to pieces, and Bellal, who received such a heavy blow, could no longer maintain his Devil Fruit transformation, and eventually reverted to his original form.
"Ugh, bringing someone like you to collect the bounty is just an insult to my ship," Kado kicked Bellal a few times, then turned to Snow Bear. "What are you still standing here for? Waiting to feed the fish?"
Hearing Kado's words, Snow Bear snapped out of his shock, waving his hands repeatedly. "No, no, the Golden Scale Fish is yours, and this ship is yours too, I don't want anything!" After saying that, he turned around and ran off as fast as his little legs could carry him. Kado's earlier display had truly frightened him; watching someone who seemed to be his equal in strength crumple to the ground after just two blows was enough to drain any courage he had left to fight Kado.
Watching Snow Bear's figure leave the ship, Kado let out a sigh of relief. In his earlier anger, he had used up all the Armament Haki within his body. If he had to fight Snow Bear again now, he might very well end up losing.
The two bursts of power had left Kado feeling somewhat exhausted. He collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily and gasping for air.
After resting for a while, Kado looked over at the unconscious Bellal. The guy appeared to be only around twenty years old, and while he was asleep, he didn't look as vicious as he had before. It seemed that, in the past, he might have been a bright, optimistic young man with his own dreams. However, his lack of mental fortitude led him to undergo such a drastic change after facing setbacks.
Kado stood up, grabbed one of Bellal's legs, and dragged him toward the bottom of the ship.
Once they reached the lower deck, Kado found some ropes and tied Bellal's hands, hanging him from the ceiling where the three unfortunate guys had been suspended earlier.
After finishing this, Kado clapped his hands and thought to himself, "Let this guy hang here for a few days. Maybe he'll experience this pain and change for the better."
After thinking for a moment, Kado felt like something was still off. He picked up a cloth from the ground and stuffed it into Bellal's mouth, ensuring that the guy wouldn't be able to shout for help and get rescued.
"Good boy, just reflect here properly. I'll be off to collect my reward."
Kado walked out of the ship's cabin and wrapped the Golden Scale Fish in a large cloth bag. He then found a small boat from the Green Hat Pirates and secretly returned to the Kado.
On the Kado ship, Fite was bandaging his wounds, while Sanchi and a few of the cooks were helping with necessary repairs to the damaged areas of the ship. They certainly didn't want this ship to mysteriously sink without explanation.
"Hey, Fite, come over and help! Look what I've got!" Kado climbed onto the deck and shouted at Fite, who was sitting in a chair.
Hearing Kado's voice, Sanchi seemed to recall something, immediately dropped the tool in his hand, and quickly ran toward the deck.
"What's this good stuff? Did you really manage to get the Golden Scale Fish?" Fite asked.
"Of course! When have I ever failed when I take action?" Kado said with a smug expression, his head nearly tilting all the way back in pride.
"Hurry, hurry, let me take a look!" Sanchi ran over, snatched the bag from Kado, and opened it to peer inside.
"Shh, quiet! Be careful not to get caught," Kado made a shushing gesture, took the bag back, and headed toward the cabin. "If you want to see, let's find a more secluded spot."
