When the surrounding metal walls retracted, everyone saw Lin Feng standing at the center, holding a handgun that glowed with a green light.
"Put down the weapon!"
In an instant, all the guards in the hall aimed their guns at Lin Feng.
Some frightened audience members even screamed, and Caitlyn and Vi, who were standing at the entrance, were also taken aback, not expecting this turn of events.
Only the seven councilors in front of Lin Feng maintained calm expressions, though the old man playing with his puzzle-like toy earlier now looked slightly alarmed.
"Hurry, arrest him!"
The old man ordered the guards around him in a panicked tone.
Several guards rushed forward, but before they could take a step, Lin Feng shouted:
"This is not a weapon!"
These five words echoed through the hall, reaching everyone's ears, including Jayce's.
Hextech – that was Jayce's creation.
In fact, all Hextech items in Piltover came from his laboratory.
But a green Hextech? He had never seen such a thing.
"Wait!" Jayce raised a hand, and the Piltover guards halted, frozen in place. Although councilors were supposed to be equal, Jayce's influence clearly ran deeper.
Even Mel paused, glancing at Jayce, who was intently watching Lin Feng, curious about his thoughts.
"Jayce, what are you doing? Are you putting the councilors' lives at risk?"
A councilor with a thin neck and head, a robot, spoke up, the gears and components on his face rotating as he talked.
Jayce didn't respond. He continued staring at Lin Feng and asked,
"If it's not a weapon, then what is it?"
"I call it the Hextech Gun."
Lin Feng's gaze never wavered from Jayce; he wanted to show his strongest side here.
Jayce's brows knitted.
"Hextech Gun, and it's not a weapon?"
"It can be a weapon, or it can be something else."
Lin Feng said mysteriously, then asked,
"Does anyone have a knife I can borrow?"
Making a gun on Judgment Day was one thing, but borrowing a knife, too? Lin Feng's audacity was unheard of in Piltover's history. The shock in everyone's eyes grew.
After a brief silence, Jayce finally nodded in agreement.
A guard closest to Lin Feng handed him a small knife, and everyone focused on Lin Feng with bated breath.
Although Lin Feng hadn't shown any aggression, all the guards were on high alert. Even Caitlyn and Vi were tense.
To everyone's surprise, Lin Feng didn't immediately attack the councilors.
Instead, he swiftly took the knife and cut a wound into his palm!
This self-inflicted act stunned everyone.
Blood dripped from the wound, hitting the floor, proving it was no illusion.
The pain made Lin Feng grimace slightly, though he kept his expression controlled.
In movies, Lin Feng had seen such tough self-inflicted acts before, and doing it himself was harder than expected.
Still, the moment called for decisiveness, and he didn't hesitate.
Next, he slowly raised the Hextech Gun again.
Once again, to everyone's surprise, he didn't aim the gun at anyone else but at his own hand, directly at the fresh wound.
Lin Feng pulled the trigger.
Some people in the audience covered their eyes, unwilling to watch.
But the deafening noise they feared didn't come.
The timid ones slowly opened their eyes to see a green light emanating from the gun, wrapping around Lin Feng without any sign of destruction.
As the green light gradually faded, everything seemed back to how it had been before, with Lin Feng holding the gun at his own wound.
Lin Feng moved the gun away and slowly lifted his wounded palm.
But when everyone looked closely, their pupils dilated in shock.
The wound on his hand was gone!
Jayce, speechless, stood up, utterly stunned by what he was seeing.
"The Hextech Gun can heal injuries."
Lin Feng's words dispelled all doubts and eased everyone's concerns.
The blood on his palm hadn't dried, but the wound was undeniably gone.
Inside, Lin Feng was a bit nervous.
He had hoped combining Hextech power with Super Soldier Serum would create a basic healing effect, though he wasn't entirely sure and based his theory on the gun's color and his gaming experience.
In the past, he'd been an experimenter. If fear of failure stopped him, then experimentation wouldn't even be worth it, and humanity would have no future.
After all, if the Hextech Gun had turned destructive, he could still reclaim the Hex power, as it was his own strength and differed from typical Hextech that relied on gemstones.
Fortunately, everything was going smoothly.
Jayce slumped back into his seat, his expression solemn as he tried to process everything he had seen.
He had never imagined the power within magic crystals could be used in this way.
As people remained in stunned silence, a bald, dark-skinned councilor ordered the Hextech Gun to be taken from Lin Feng and tested again by a guard.
The guard, who nicked his finger, had it healed instantly by the Hextech Gun.
Lin Feng wasn't sure how many uses the Hextech Gun had; it contained only a portion of his power and the Super Soldier Serum, so it would certainly have a limit.
But getting through today's Judgment Day would be enough.
It was real, not an illusion, nor a trick.
The hall burst into loud arguments and discussions, even the councilors began conversing among themselves.
"A Hextech device that can heal injuries? Councilor Jayce, is this real?"
"Even if this Hextech can heal, he's still committed a crime; my people were nearly wiped out because of him."
"The crime hasn't been fully proven, but this Hextech device is exactly what we need right now."
"I agree with Councilor Mel. With tensions growing in the lower districts, we need this advancement."
"But don't forget, if he can create such a Hextech, he could also create dangers. We can't trust someone like him!"
"..."
"Enough!"
The usually silent Jayce spoke up, instantly silencing everyone.
The hall returned to an intense quiet.
"Lin Feng…" Jayce paused. As a scientist, he was eager to understand the Hextech Gun's secrets, but as a councilor, he returned to the purpose of Judgment Day:
"You claim to be a scientist, so why were you at the scene of the incident? Who are you, and why haven't we heard of you at the academy?"
