Raelynn groaned in exhaustion as she threw herself onto the bed, sinking into the plush mattress with a sigh. Her room was a mess now, stuff everywhere, filled with her new purchases— shopping bags scattered on the floor. She stretched out her arms, staring at the ceiling.
"Shopping is exhausting," she muttered to herself, though a small smile tugged at her lips.
After a moment, she turned her head, her gaze landing on one of the bags containing her books. With a burst of energy, she rolled off the bed and padded over, rummaging through the bag until she pulled out a book about pregnancy. She climbed back onto the bed, propping herself up with pillows, and flipped it open.
As her eyes scanned the pages, her mind wandered. A few weeks ago, she never would have imagined herself reading pregnancy books, let alone caring this much about the baby growing inside her. Yet here she was, devouring every word, eager to learn and prepare.
