章 66: vs Blackbeard vs Akainu (II)

The air was a suffocating mix of heat and tension as the three of us stood in an unspoken standoff. Akainu radiated an intense heat, his magma-coated fists dripping lava that sizzled and hissed as it hit the molten ground. Blackbeard loomed like a dark specter, his writhing shadows coiling and shifting as if alive, ready to consume all in their path. My sword vibrated faintly with conqueror's haki, sparks of crimson and black crackling along its edge, a silent promise of destruction.

The battlefield was silent but alive with the weight of anticipation.

Akainu broke the stillness first, roaring with volcanic fury. He thrust both fists forward, and a massive wave of molten rock surged toward us like a tidal wave from hell. Blackbeard grinned, his darkness coalescing into a shield. The magma slammed into the wall of darkness with a deafening BOOM, sending tremors rippling through the ground. Blackbeard's power held firm, swallowing the fiery assault whole.

I took advantage of the distraction, moving in a burst of speed. Appearing at Blackbeard's side, my blade descended in a precise arc. He barely reacted in time, crossing his haki-coated arms to block. The force of the blow sent him skidding across the ground, his boots carving deep trenches as he laughed.

"Zehahaha! You're strong, but strength alone won't be enough to take me down!" he taunted, his voice brimming with manic glee.

Blackbeard retaliated with a sphere of darkness, hurling it toward me with terrifying force. I sidestepped the initial throw, but the sphere expanded upon impact, creating a gaping void that tried to pull me in. I flipped backward just in time, the spot where I stood vanishing into the consuming abyss.

Akainu was already upon me before I could recover. His molten fist swung down like a hammer, forcing me to meet it with my blade. The impact rattled my arms and sent a wave of blistering heat rolling over me. I infused my haki into the blade and pushed back, creating a shockwave that sent Akainu stumbling briefly.

"You're slippery," Akainu growled, his voice a low rumble like the belly of a volcano. "But let's see how long you can dance around this."

He slammed both fists into the ground, triggering a volcanic eruption. Streams of magma shot outward in all directions, cutting off any escape routes. I launched myself into the air just as the molten streams converged below me, but my reprieve was short-lived.

Blackbeard's darkness shot up like claws, reaching for me mid-air. I twisted my body to avoid them, slicing through one tendril, but another seized my ankle. It yanked me downward with a force that cracked the ground upon impact.

I barely rolled away as Akainu's molten fist smashed into the spot I had landed, the heat scorching the edges of my vision. His follow-up strike came instantly, but my blade intercepted it, deflecting the blow to the side. The ground beneath us melted into a hellish pool, glowing red and orange as the three of us traded attacks.

Blackbeard, capitalizing on the chaos, emerged from the void, his fist enveloped in writhing darkness. He lunged at Akainu, catching the admiral off guard and slamming him in the chest. The impact sent Akainu staggering, but his counterattack was just as swift—a spear of molten rock burst forth from his chest, piercing through the shadows and striking Blackbeard's side.

Blackbeard let out a howl of pain as magma seared into his flesh, leaving a charred, gaping wound. Yet, his mad laughter returned almost instantly. His body absorbed the pain, seemingly converting it into raw power.

"Pirate scum!" Akainu roared, his molten body swelling as he unleashed another wave of magma.

The ground trembled beneath us, and I knew I couldn't let either of them run unchecked. They were too dangerous, and their powers were carving Marineford into a wasteland.

With a burst of speed, I darted between the two, aiming my next strike at Blackbeard. My sword, pulsating with conqueror's haki, slashed through his defenses, carving a deep wound across his chest. He stumbled back, a grimace breaking his grin.

Akainu's fist came next, blazing with molten fury. I parried the attack, redirecting its force downward, and countered with a slash aimed at his ribs. He twisted at the last moment, but my blade still nicked him, drawing blood.

The three of us clashed again and again, trading blows that sent shockwaves rippling through Marineford. Every swing of my sword, every burst of magma, and every pulse of darkness carved the battlefield into a chaotic ruin. Blackbeard's laugh echoed through the destruction, Akainu's roars of fury matched it, and I stood between them, determined to end this fight.

I quickly moved my body as my sword met Akainu's magma infused arm. I didn't exactly have the time to observe, as my haki warned me of a darkness infused fist aiming right at my abdomen. I jumped up vertically as I dodged the attack. Blackbeard's fist continued its trajectory as it met Akainu's magma arm. Just with a single touch Akainu's magma disappeared. Blackbeard was the perfect counter for a devil fruit user.

Akainu adjusted quickly, switching to armament haki and crossing his arms to block Blackbeard's follow-up strike. I seized the opportunity, launching myself toward them. My blade cut a crimson arc through the air, enhanced by my conqueror's haki.

The slash struck true, digging into both their shoulders and forcing them to retreat. They were learning just how dangerous I could be if left unchecked.

The main reason why Yonkos are far stronger than Admirals is because of their Conqueror's Haki. While armament haki increases one's power linearly, Advanced conqueror's haki increased one's attack power exponentially. I can't wait till I learn advanced armament haki. Those two combined, and you've got an attack power rivalling a Yonko.

Neither Akainu nor Blackbeard has conqueror's haki. They tried blocking my attacks with armament haki. But my haki easily trumped theirs. The only reason Blackbeard and Akainu could fight toe to toe with me was because of their ridiculous amount of defense and their broken devil fruit abilities. Magu Magu no Mi and Yami Yami no Mi were arguably the strongest among logia type devil fruits. Even that aside, they were both huge guys with way too much muscle density. They were both over three meters tall while I was only about two meters tall. I needed to jump to even get a hit at their vitals. Cutting them in half wasn't as easy as it seemed.

As both Akainu and Blackbeard retreated back, I pushed my feet on the air and launched myself towards Akainu. He was bleeding from his shoulder. Seeing me launching himself towards him, he decided to go on full offensive. He thrust both his hands forward as an enormous hound made of magma rushed towards me.

Inugami Guren

The sheer heat emanating from the head was terrifying. This was an attack that even injured Whitebeard. My defenses were not even close to taking that attack head on. But I didn't want to lose the momentum I had gained. So, I did what I've always done. I attacked. To me, offense has always been the best defense.

My sword gleamed with dark lighting, intensifying, as I flew towards the giant magma mouth. It wanted to swallow me whole and burn me alive. And I'm not going to let him do that.

My sword moved, making a clear red arc through the air just as the magma was going to swallow me whole. A second passed. Then the blast happened. Magma erupted everywhere as the hound got blasted into a million pieces.

Akainu's eyes were wide open seeing how eaily I countered his attack. He tried to use the same trick he had used on Blackbeard by erupting whole body like an active volcano. But at that very moment two events happened simultaneously. I pushed my Conqueror's haki onto him, making him pause for a moment. And using that momentary shift, Blackbeard appeared right behind him using his darkness and grabbed him by his shoulders. He was standing on magma and his leg was getting burned. But he didn't care. His eyes only contained madness. Akainu couldn't use his devil fruit abilities and just watch helplessly as my sword cut through his stomach.

At the last moment he coated his body with the strongest haki he could muster. The attack still went through as his body went flying several kilometers. The 'strongest admiral' crashed into Marineford as hundreds of buildings got destroyed by the impact of his body alone. He might still be alive if he's lucky but he was done for the rest of this fight.

My eyes met Blackbeard's, I was curious,

"Why'd you do that?"

"He was interfering too much." Blackbeard replied with a sneer.

"You could've teamed up with him. It would've been the most logical decision."

"I know. But my pride doesn't allow," he laughed hearing his own words. "It's funny that I'm talking about pride. I've never really cared about pride that much. But you came along and ruined everything. My plan towards reaching greatness. I've waited decades, staying in the shadows, biding my time. So that one day the whole world will cower before me. You just had to ruin everything. First, you killed my original crew and now with you come along with your fancy haki. So, I thought about how will the world know of my existence in front of a mighty haki user like you? How'll I get the fear I want? Then I realized that the answer was right before my eyes. If I kill the man who made the whole Marineford kneel, then I'll become even more fearsome than you. Even more terrifying, even more revered…even more respected. I'm going to be the who will define how the new generation of pirates will be. I'm going to reach the top. And I'm going to take it all for myself."

As Blackbeard spoke, I noticed the look in his eyes. Those eyes spoke that this man was clearly insane. And at the same, those eyes showed a person with an intense ambition. He was very different from that generic villain in the anime. That Blackbeard was just a guy who had two powerful devil fruit ability. A person who attained everything without facing any real hardship. But, this man in front of me is different. This man had suffered, endured hardships, and lost everything. He was a person forged by pain and failure, far more dangerous than his predecessor. I have unknowingly created a monster.

I gripped my sword tightly, ready for what came next. But before we could clash, the battlefield shifted violently. The sea tilted, and the entire island groaned under an immense force. My eyes darted toward the source.

It seems Whitebeard has decided to end this war.
