Pieces of the Puzzle

Bella's POV

The morning was unusually quiet, an unsettling calm blanketing the house. Sam had left early for a meeting, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I sat in the living room, staring out the window, when the sound of the doorbell jolted me back to reality.  

When I opened the door, Jonathan stood there, his expression a mix of concern and urgency.  

"Jonathan?" I asked, surprised. "What are you doing here? Sam isn't home."  

He gave me a curt nod, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation. "I'm not here for Sam," he said, his tone serious. "I need to talk to you."  

We moved to the sitting area, and I gestured for him to take a seat. He looked around, his eyes scanning the room as if checking for eavesdroppers. His cautious demeanor made my chest tighten.  

"What's going on?" I asked, my voice laced with unease.
