章 23: Pull The Trigger

He disappears into the back of the seat to uncuff Ivanna. I meet her angry gaze as she pulls out of the land rover. Surprisingly enough, she is quiet, but just continues to burn holes into my skin with her eyes. I try to not grin as Damien marches her back to me.

"Here you are, Malishka."

Now that she is up close, I can see the tear tracks in her eyes, telling me that she had been crying. I squash any guilt that tries to nudge at me and take her in my arm. She tries to pull away from me, but I keep my grip tight. "Thank you, Damien. My best to your wife and daughters."

"Anytime, Sir Sakharov."

I lead her to the SUV and Anton opens the rear door. She tosses her head back and her long, wheat coloured hair whips over her shoulder. She stares at me. She looks something between stubborn and defeated. Like someone who has just lost but is very adamant to admit they have. "Let me go, Sakharov."

"Get in the fucking car, Ivanna."
