“I’m the one who was born to be with her.”
His voice was calm, matter-of-fact as if he were stating some undeniable truth. My mind struggled to process what I’d just heard, and I shot a glance at Lena, expecting her to be just as confused as I was. But instead, something darker flashed across her face.
The tension she’d been carrying, the fear, it all evaporated in an instant, replaced by a rage that I hadn’t seen in her before. Her blue eyes blazed with a fury that made me instinctively take a step back.
“What?” she spat, her voice trembling with anger. “What the hell are you talking about?”
I could feel her wolf stirring even though she hadn’t transformed. Her emotions were raw and unfiltered, and it felt like the temperature in the room had suddenly spiked. She was about to launch into him, to tear Rowan apart with her words, maybe even more, when something unexpected happened.
