The emergency lights blinked on, and immediately, I knew I was in trouble. What in God’s name was going on, and why was it happening now? In the dim light, I could see Eason’s reflection in the polished doors, his face a mask of concern and surprise that likely mirrored my own.

“What’s going on?” I heard him ask, but I was too focused on the fact that we were stuck here together. Being this close to him was doing something funny to my insides. My palms grew clammy as I pressed them against the cool, unforgiving walls, desperately seeking an escape that didn’t exist.

I could literally feel the elevator walls closing in on me. It was impossible to ignore Eason when he was this close. He was so close that I could hear his steady breathing beside me, sending shivers down my spine. So close that if I moved just an inch, our fingers would be touching.
