I didn't let myself think about how hard my heart ached as the plane left New York. 

I shut down my heart, filing away all of the heavy emotions leaving Kieran behind had caused in me. I needed to shield my heart, to let my head win instead.

There was too much at stake for me to let myself get carried away by Kieran, so I forced all of the damning emotions away and focused on what I had to deal with once I landed back home.

It was worse than Juliette explained.

The moment I landed and turned on my work email, I was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work I had to do. 

I drove straight to my office, not bothering to drop Noah at home first. Everyone already knew about him, so there was no point in hiding him again.

Of course people stared as we made my way to my office, but I was too busy, to preoccupied to pay attention to them.
