Zoe locked the door to her apartment with a quick twist, Snacks perched lazily on her shoulder.
The dragon's tail swung in a rhythmic arc, brushing against her jacket.
"Alright, buddy, let's see how our new neighbors are settling in," she said, more to herself than to Snacks.
She glanced down the hall toward the far door.
Quinn had moved in earlier that day, the whole process almost unnervingly efficient.
After seeing Zoe use her snack vault to suck up what little was left in the apartment, Quinn had replicated the trick with their gadget vault, packing up and moving with what could only be described as precision bordering on magic.
The result: a fully occupied space in mere hours. Zoe had to admit, it was impressive.
As she stepped toward the hallway, her Loom interface flickered to life just out of the corner of her vision, hovering like an attentive shadow.
This chapter was a joy to write, especially because my own cats inspire Tucker and Moonglow. They were wonderful companions, and while I had to give them up, their spirit lives on in these stories. I hope their antics here made you smile, just like they did for me in real life.
I figured out what was going on & I am creeping ahead. Thanks!
