章 4: False Pretences
'Boss, do you like what you see?' Qin Wu thought with a teasing look in her eyes.
However, she didn't say anything.
Instead, she gave the man a seductive smile and slightly tilted her head before she spoke.
"Is dinner ready?" She asked.
Hearing this, Mo Chenxuan immediately came to.
With a quick nod, he led the way to the dining room.
When she entered the dining room, Qin Wu was shocked.
She expected a normal dinner of four dishes and a soup.
However, there were more than ten meat and vegetable dishes on the dining table. Most importantly, she recognised a few of her and Mo Chenxuan's favourites.
Even more strange, there was an expensive bottle of red wine on the table.
'What's going on?' She finally noticed something was not right.
"Boss, are we celebrating something?" She asked.
"Why do you think so?" Mo Chenxuan raised his right eyebrow in question.
'Why do I think so? Boss, there is a bottle of Cheval Blanc 1947 on the table. If we are not celebrating something, why bring out your good wine?' Qin Wu thought but didn't say this.
Instead, she looked at the numerous dishes.
"My chef likes to cook." Mo Chenxuan said.
When she heard this, Qin Wu looked at the person and sighed.
"I see." She finally said.
"Eat." Mo Chenxuan immediately changed the subject.
After that, the two ate in silence.
However, Qin Wu became more and more confused as the dinner continued.
First, the boss casually picked food for her.
Although Qin Wu was happy, she was also surprised.
After all, Mo Chenxuan was notoriously strict on himself.
Since he had a girlfriend, he would not be nice to other women, including his secretary.
However, Mo Chenxuan's behaviour had gone beyond being nice.
At this point, Qi Wu realised she might have been invited on a date under false pretences.
'Boss, what's going on?' She silently panicked and subconsciously narrowed her eyes.
After dinner, Qin Wu pretended to casually look at her watch.
"Boss, it's already past nine. Is there anything I need to prepare for the meeting?"
"The meeting was suddenly cancelled."
When she heard this, Qin Wu was shocked.
She didn't expect such an obvious and unapologetic operation.
With a strange glint in her eyes, she stared at Mo Chenxuan.
"Boss, if I didn't know you have a girlfriend, I would think you invited me on a date under false pretences." She said, her lips curled into a smile.
"I don't have a girlfriend." Mo Chenxuan said and Qin Wu couldn't help but be shocked.
"You don't…"
Without waiting for Qin Wu to finish her words, Mo Chenxuan stood up.
"I will clear the table." He said and Qin Wu also stood up.
"I will help you." She offered but Mo Chenxuan shook his head in refusal.
"It will only take a moment." He said and Qin Wu didn't argue.
Although she wanted to spend more time with Mo Chenxuan, she still had some urgent matters.
After Mo Chenxuan went to the kitchen, Qin Wu rushed to the guest room on the second floor.
'I must give Mo Chenxuan a bottle of space water.' She thought.
Although she hadn't tested the space water, she had novels as a reference.
Before the apocalypse came, she wanted to make sure that she and Mo Chenxuan each drank a bottle of space water.
While Qin Wu was rushing to prepare a bottle of space water, Mo Chenxuan waved his hand and all the leftover dishes disappeared from the table.
'Having a space is so convenient.' He thought and subconsciously narrowed his eyes.
'The apocalypse is in less than eight hours. Before then, I must let Wu'er drink some space water.'
A moment later, a bottle of water appeared in his right hand.
Looking at the bottle of water, Mo Chenxuan recalled his previous life.
Back then, he awakened the lightning superpower and Qin Wu awakened the water superpower.
In the early stages, the water superpower could only provide drinking water.
However, Qin Wu worked hard.
She trained her superpower to ensure they always had enough drinking and bathing water.
Even after her superpower gained some attack capabilities and she could protect herself, Qin Wu still did her best to take care of him.
Remembering this, Mo Chenxuan squeezed the water bottle.
"Wu'er, I will take care of you in this life." He silently vowed while walking to the second floor.
When he was about to knock on the guest room door, the door suddenly opened from within.
Unexpectedly, Qin Wu was also holding a bottle of water.
Seeing the bottle in each other's hand, the two were momentarily at a loss.
'What do I do? He has already gotten water for himself.' Qin Wu panicked.
However, Mo Chenxuan was only momentarily taken aback.
After regaining his composure, he reached for Qin Wu's water bottle.
"Do you mind if we exchange water bottles? I prefer this brand."
'You prefer my brand?' Qin Wu looked at her water bottle and doubted her life.
She had been Mo Chenxuan's secretary for almost five years.
As part of her job and more out of interest, she studied her boss' preferences.
Because of that, she knew Mo Chenxuan's favourite water brand.
Unexpectedly, the man suddenly changed his style and preferred cheap ordinary water over his usual brand!
'I wanted to find an opportunity to put this space water in a cup, but I now don't have to go to the trouble.' Qin Wu thought and happily exchanged the water bottles.
"Boss, are you sure you prefer that brand? Why don't you taste it first?" Qin Wu insisted.
After all, she had to make sure the man drank the water.
"Mmmm." Mo Chenxuan nodded and took a mouthful.
At first taste, Mo Chenxuan knew the water was not ordinary. However, he didn't say anything.
Instead, he nodded and expressed his approval.
"As expected, this brand has good water."
Hearing this, Qin Wu almost rolled her eyes.
'He is definitely up to something.' She thought and also took a big mouthful from the water bottle in her hand.
In this way, two people watched the other drink water.
When the water bottles were empty, the two said their goodnights and went to their rooms.
