章 4: Marvel, Scientist Becomes God, Ch 4

Two people stood in front of a three-dimensional virtual platform, upon which a lizard was wriggling, surrounded by constantly emerging cytokines.

Dr. Connor gestured as he moved the platform, introducing, "Ye, what you see here is a supercomputer, and this lizard is a virtual model simulated by it, created using comprehensive data that makes it identical to a living lizard. The supercomputer can transplant the data of this lizard model onto test subjects, such as these white mice. However, we have encountered difficulties—the genes of the lizard, when transplanted into these mice, resulted in no survivors; the decay rate algorithm is still not perfected..."

"Beep! Task triggered: Complete the transformation rate algorithm within three days. Successful completion rewards 1000 scientific points; failure results in a deduction of 500 scientific points!"

Upon hearing the system's announcement, Ye Hai quickly said, "Doctor, I'm not very familiar with your experiments, but I am willing to assist you. May I take a look at your transformation rate equation?"

Dr. Connor gazed at Ye Hai over his glasses, remaining silent. Ye Hai felt anxious; he knew this equation was the core of Dr. Connor's research and the result of over a decade of work. It was surely a hesitant moment for him to share it with someone who was still a newcomer, especially considering the possibility of spies from rival companies.

Perhaps Dr. Connor, eager for results, overlooked his reservations; combined with Ye Hai's impressive computational abilities, he remained silent for a long while before finally nodding, "Alright!"

After opening his computer and entering his password, Ye Hai was presented with the transformation rate calculation equation. It was not a mere brief segment as depicted in the original text, but rather consumed several megabytes of space, containing hundreds of thousands of data points and symbols—extremely complex. Under normal circumstances, it would have been quite challenging for Ye Hai to even comprehend this equation, let alone improve upon it.

But the situation was different now; he had activated 20% of his brain's potential, which enhanced his cognitive processing speed dramatically. With near photographic memory, he finished reviewing the equation in just a few minutes, mentally dissecting and recombining it to identify its strengths and weaknesses while continuously refining it.

Simultaneously, his fingers danced across the keyboard like sprites as the crisp sound of typing echoed softly in the laboratory. Words and data flowed continuously onto the computer screen, rapidly calculating and perfecting the equation.

Initially, Dr. Connor had intended for Ye Hai to simply give it a try, never anticipating that he would get into the zone so quickly. He stood behind Ye Hai, observing the data appearing on the screen: some matched his own calculations, while others diverged significantly, suggesting different implications. However, he lacked Ye Hai's quick cognitive processing and struggled to grasp the insights, feeling increasingly bewildered. Gradually, as the data increased, Dr. Connor began to see a glimmer of hope: it seemed Ye Hai was progressing toward a successful equation.

In the end, he chose not to interrupt, watching quietly for a whole day. Suddenly, he heard Ye Hai exclaim excitedly, "It worked!"

"Bang!" Dr. Connor's heart raced, thrilled, "Let me see! Let me see!"

"Sure!"

Ye Hai smiled slightly but suddenly froze, feeling an intense pain in his cervical spine, fingers, and arms, rendering him unable to move for a moment. He quickly asked, "Dr. Connor, how many hours have passed?"

Connor noticed his discomfort and apologized, "You can see the sky is already dark; it has been over ten hours. I'm sorry, Ye. I didn't want to break your inspiration by interrupting you for meals!"

"No wonder my stomach is growling. This guy is ruthless; he let me work for ten hours without food or water all for his equation. But inspiration is a fickle thing; maybe having eaten would have disrupted my flow. I really did lose track of my physical state with such a drastic activation of my brain."

Though Ye Hai had complaints in his heart, he responded, "It's fine, Dr. Connor; you did the right thing. Inspiration is unpredictable; perhaps having eaten wouldn't have gone as smoothly. Just take a look, Dr. Connor!"

Ye Hai stretched a bit and then gradually stood up. Dr. Connor quickly sat down to review the data. Ye Hai knew he couldn't think as quickly as he could, requiring several hours to fully comprehend it, so he headed to the cafeteria in the Osborn building and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner.

After finishing and lingering in the cafeteria for about an hour, he slowly made his way back to the studio. By then, Dr. Connor had completed reviewing the equation and hugged Ye Hai tightly, exclaiming, "Ye, you're a genius! No, not even a genius can compare to you; your intellect is beyond human comprehension!"

Dr. Connor looked at Ye Hai with fervent eyes, completely enthralled. Ye Hai felt a shiver run down his spine; he worried that this eccentric scientist might develop an interest in his brain structure and even consider him a test subject.

Unaware of Ye Hai's thoughts, Dr. Connor exclaimed, "Let's quickly verify this equation; I have a feeling we're going to succeed this time!"

Without hesitation, Dr. Connor imported the equation into the supercomputer, which began operating rapidly, commencing the cross-gene experiment. This involved applying the lizard's genes using the new equation into a small white mouse model.

"Replace protein, eliminate immune response, commencing... Gene transformation in progress... Please wait..."

The mechanical voice of the supercomputer spoke slowly, and both Ye Hai and Dr. Connor gazed intently at the three-legged mouse on the platform.

"Equation computation successful, regeneration complete. Mysterious signs normal, blood pressure normal, limb regeneration successful."

As they listened to the supercomputer's success report and saw the mouse restored to its complete form, a look of ecstatic joy spread across Dr. Connor's face: "Amazing!"

"Beep! Host successfully perfected the transformation rate equation; task completed within three days, reward: 1000 scientific points!"
