章 113: Chapter 113 (edited)

Kara received an unexpected call from Dani that shook her to the core.

"Kara, I know who you are. I didn't mean to bring you into this, but I need your help now. I'm in Seaside City. Not only am I in danger, but the entire city could be destroyed."

The call ended abruptly, leaving Kara no time to respond. The urgency in Dani's voice was unmistakable. Her panic and desperation were evident, and Kara couldn't ignore it.

She glanced at Bruce and Jennifer, her companions at Wayne Manor. Jennifer, with a slightly apologetic look, said, "I didn't tell her, Kara. I swear. I figured the fewer people who know, the safer it is for all of us—including Dani."

Bruce raised his hands in mock surrender. "Why does everyone think it's me? Besides, what's going on?"

Kara quickly recounted what Dani had told her earlier in the day. "Dani's department apparently discovered the remains of an alien and had been researching it. I don't know what's happening now, but it sounds bad. I have to get to her."

Bruce and Jennifer were stunned at the mention of an alien. The existence of extraterrestrial life was still theoretical for most people, despite humanity's fascination with the cosmos. Yet Kara knew more than anyone—she wasn't from Earth herself.

Jennifer's concern deepened. "Do you want help?"

Kara shook her head. "Can you fly?"

Bruce immediately sat back down, smirking.

Kara didn't waste another moment. She launched herself into the air, her mind set on reaching Dani as quickly as possible. She knew there was no time to suit up in her usual disguise, but Jennifer called out, "What about your battle suit? Won't you blow your cover?"

Kara turned back with a playful smirk. She grabbed the edges of her shirt and ripped it open, revealing her iconic red and blue uniform. The bright red 'S' on her chest gleamed, and her red cape fluttered behind her.

"How do I look?" Kara asked, hands on her hips.

Jennifer's eyes sparkled with awe. Bruce, ever the strategist, silently evaluated the practicality of her suit compared to his own.

"You look... hopeful," Jennifer said softly, clearly moved by the sight.

Without waiting for another response, Kara flew out the window, breaking the sound barrier almost immediately. Her urgency over Dani's predicament made her push herself to maximum speed. She removed her glasses mid-flight, letting her true appearance shine. The glasses had always acted as a subtle suppressor, making her less noticeable in her civilian identity. Now, her radiant features, framed by her flowing blonde hair, were impossible to ignore.

In less than thirty seconds, Kara arrived at Seaside City, a bustling metropolis with glowing lights stretching as far as the eye could see. She hovered above the city, scanning with her super vision and super hearing. The situation seemed dire, but she couldn't pinpoint Dani's exact location.

Kara didn't call Dani back—she couldn't risk alerting any potential threats to her. Besides, her uniform didn't exactly have convenient pockets for a phone.

As she listened for any sign of Dani, Kara's enhanced hearing picked up the sound of lab equipment crashing, terrified screams, and a voice she recognized. "Kara, hurry..."

Dani's voice was faint but clear. Kara's heart leapt, and she sped toward the source of the sound.

She arrived at a heavily secured laboratory, its walls reinforced to keep out intruders—or so they thought. With a single powerful strike, Kara shattered the barrier, the debris scattering like paper.

Inside, chaos reigned. Equipment was destroyed, and several researchers lay unconscious—or worse. Among the wreckage stood Hector Hammond, a man transformed. His head was grotesquely swollen, his body emanating an eerie yellow glow. The alien substance he'd been exposed to had infected him, amplifying his fear and granting him telekinetic powers.

Dani and a few others, including Senator Hammond, were pinned against the wall by an invisible force. Their expressions were a mixture of terror and hope when they saw Kara enter.

"Kara?" Dani gasped, her voice barely audible. But then her eyes widened in confusion. "Wait... who are you?"

Kara tilted her head and gave a faint smile. "Didn't you say you knew my identity?"

Dani's jaw dropped as realization dawned on her. "Supergirl?"

"Let's handle introductions later," Kara said, turning her attention to Hector. His glowing eyes fixed on her, and he let out a low growl, his powers surging toward her.

Kara planted her feet firmly, ready to face whatever was coming. "You picked the wrong city to mess with."
