章 15: Chapter 15 : The Change of the Devil's Claw Girl
The locomotive glanced anxiously, looking left and right as he spotted the Devil's Claw Girl searching for him. He turned and rushed forward, pushing her toward the syringe that was already close at hand.
Jonny Blaze raised an eyebrow slightly but didn't intervene.
"Ah—" A painful scream echoed as the Devil's Claw Girl collapsed.
She stared at the now-open door, her gaze following the disappearing figure of her boyfriend. She couldn't believe that the man she loved would do something like this.
He had actually sacrificed her to escape!
Jonny Blaze didn't chase after the locomotive. Although injecting the super-soldier serum into someone with superhuman abilities carried certain risks, based on past experience, a 100% success rate was far more likely.
If the locomotive had injected the serum instead of sacrificing the Devil's Claw Girl, it could have solved the heart problems caused by the injection of Compound V, making him stronger and even faster!
Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what the next one will taste like.

Sitting on the sofa, Jonny Blaze, who was waiting for the outcome, closed his system panel and glanced over at the Devil's Claw Girl, who was now waking up from her coma.
She lay on the ground, her eyes dazed. Beads of sweat rolled down her skin, and her loose home clothes had become slightly tight. After the serum enhancement, her figure had become more symmetrical and even more perfect than before.
"Good evening or bad, whichever you prefer!" Jonny called out.
The Devil's Claw Girl seemed consumed by the sorrow of being betrayed by her boyfriend. She neither moved nor spoke, too immersed in her sadness to notice anything else.
Jonny Blaze pouted and fired a heat ray at the floor beside her face.
The red-hot beam instantly burned a large hole in the floor.
"If you keep pretending to be dead, I'll make sure it's for real next time!"
His cold voice and the lingering heat on the floor finally snapped the Devil's Claw Girl out of her daze, and she slowly sat up.
"Pathetic!"
Jonny sneered. "Water boils at 100 degrees and cools down, so what makes you think people's hearts, which sit at 37 degrees, won't cool faster?"
The Devil's Claw Girl blinked, her expression livelier, and hoarsely replied, "You don't understand."
"I don't understand? I understand all too well. Most relationships go like this: it's not a long story, just a brief encounter, a blush, and a lingering look."
"Who stays with anyone forever these days? Was the locomotive your first boyfriend? No, right?"
She shook her head instinctively.
"So why are you acting like a lifeless corpse? Stand up and tell me how your body feels now. Has your original ability been affected?"
Jonny's harsh tone made her rise reflexively to assess the changes in her body. She raised her wrist, and a slender, sharp bone spur slowly extended from it.
This was her ability, and the reason she was called the Devil's Claw Girl.
"My ability is fine. I feel like my body is overflowing with strength, like I'm stronger than before."
She hesitated, glancing at the muscles on her arms and the defined lines on her abdomen. "It's just strange... What exactly did you inject me with?"
"At first, I thought you were going to kill the locomotive. I assumed the syringe was filled with poison or a virus, but instead of dying, I got stronger. This feels similar to the serum the locomotive used once—it's like a drug."
"But that drug only boosted his state temporarily, making him feel overly excited, like being drunk. My mood is stable now, and I even have abs. So... what did you inject me with?"
The substance she was referring to was Compound V.
In an effort to assert dominance, Homelanders secretly instructed the locomotive to deliver Compound V to a terrorist organization. They injected adults with it to create supervillains, who would then be used for terrorist acts, only to be defeated by Homelanders, thus solidifying his heroic image.
Although the locomotive had no direct dealings with terrorists, he secretly injected himself with Compound V and became addicted to it.
The Devil's Claw Girl had tried to stop him several times, but to no avail.
One of Jonny Blaze's goals after returning from this world to the Marvel universe was to recruit a victim of Homelanders' supervillain plan—Kimiko, the Wolf Girl!
If Kimiko was separated from Starlight and no longer accompanied by the locomotive, Jonny intended to find her. Compared to Queen Maeve and Starlight, Kimiko had fewer ties to the world, only her brother, who eventually became a superhero himself.
The siblings' abilities were impressive.
Kimiko had a powerful self-healing ability. Since she was injected with Compound V as an adult, her cognitive and language abilities were impaired to some extent. Her fighting style was animalistic, somewhat reminiscent of Wolverine, earning her the nickname Wolf Girl.
Her brother had fewer appearances and was later killed by Stormfront. His power seemed to be telekinesis, with a combat style resembling that of a young Magneto.
