章 14: The End Of The Prophecy

The tension in the air was palpable.
"We meet again, Yondaime." Fang Yuan said with a heart-warming smile.
Instantly, Minato and Kushina appeared in between Naruto and Fang Yuan, ready to protect their son one last time.
"Why are you here, Fang Yuan?" Minato demanded.
"I need to free that fox."
"We won't let you" Kushina sneered.
Fang Yuan chose to look at her with dead eyes.
"I am not... scared of you dattebayo" Naruto joined in. He was lying. If there was one thing he was scared of, it was Fang Yuan. As a child, Naruto couldn't just cope with the trauma Fang Yuan caused.
Minato weighed their choices and with a heavy sigh said "Fang Yuan, we understand. Please give us a moment."
Fang Yuan flicked his fingers and went to the Kyuubi's cage.
"Minato!"
"Dad?"
"Kushina, you know why I did that and Naruto, I am sorry. With me and Kushina's current selves, we can't save you from him."
"Ah... " A glint was lost in Naruto's eyes.
"Forgive me Naruto, I can not protect you and never did. I put you through so much pain just because I selfishly believed my son could grit through. I have no right to call myself a father. I am sorry Naruto."
The void was getting redder.
Naruto's perception of an almighty fourth hokage was destroyed yet he still answered "Dad... I understand. I forgive you."
Kushina though could not accept the situation.
"Minato, do something. I don't want Naruto to die. I can't let Naruto die. I never prepared breakfast for you. I never pampered him. I never kissed him goodnight and now, how can I still call myself a mother when I can't even save my son's life?"
Naruto looked at her struggling mother and felt the need to comfort her.
"Mom, it is okay. You weren't there but you are still the perfect mom I always wanted." Kushina teared up at Naruto's words.
Then suddenly, the red void stopped changing color.
"Ah, so this is a hokage." Fang Yuan said.
This was the plan of Minato. It was not to let the Kyuubi out, or perhaps make Naruto use the Kyuubi's power for a last ditch effort. Those plans were too shallow against wood release.
From the moment his Edo Tensei was dispelled, Minato had been planning. Contrary to the Senju brothers, he knew the current Konoha couldn't beat Fang Yuan. He had to stop Fang Yuan and his only solution in his dead state was sealing.
From that moment onward, he observed the surroundings from inside, carefully analysing how he could lure Fang Yuan into his trap.
And with Naruto and Fang Yuan's interaction, Minato sighed in relief. He had confirmed Fang Yuan was interested in Naruto, likely because of the Kyuubi. He was expecting Fang Yuan to snatch Naruto to free the Kyuubi and due to him strengthening the seal, Fang Yuan would have to enter the sealing space to do so. Then his plan would be put in action.
That was what was supposed to happen.
Turns out, Fang Yuan was an even greater monster than Minato had anticipated and he proceeded to decimate all of Konoha's top forces in a few minutes. Undoubtedly, as soon as the other great nations heard of these news, they would rush to destroy Konoha, to utterly destroy it with no hope for salvation.
With his plan destroyed and Konoha's defeat guaranteed, while watching the Kyuubi battle, Minato decided to at least kill Fang Yuan before he did anything to the rest of the world, to save their lives instead of Konoha.
That is why when he was strengthening the seal, it glowed bright white as if inviting Fang Yuan inside. No one would design a seal like that, not to mention a seal master like Minato.
And here they were. Fang Yuan had took the bait.
The seal's new function had activated. The new function severed the link between here and the real world. That meant no one could leave the sealing space, whoever they might be. Fang Yuan could not leave this body, nor could Kyuubi control the Naruto outside, and neither could Naruto's soul go back to controlling his own body.
So now, the 5 of them, Kyuubi, Fang Yuan, Naruto, Minato and Kushina were stuck in this place for as long as Naruto's body was kept alive, and that wouldn't be a very long time.
With the Kyuubi's chakra instantly vanishing outside because of the seal, Naruto's scorched body fell to the ground, his Uzumaki regeneration only able to postpone his death.
As soon as Naruto died, with Naruto's, every single soul here would get taken to the Pure Land.
The previously red void was now bright white expanse but not at all peaceful. Cracks were appearing and spreading. The family of three hugged each other.
"What is happening dattebayo." Naruto said, confused.
"Naruto, don't worry. I modified the seal so Fang Yuan will die as soon as you do."
"Ah, so I will die." Naruto said, gloomy.
And after a few moments, the place broke apart leaving everyone in front of the Kyuubi's cage.
Naruto thought for a moment, then glared at and brung out his tongue to Fang Yuan, mocking him.
"You are the most logical person I have met in this world, Namikaze Minato"
"This was the only way." Minato answered, gloomy.
"Though I guess not praiseworthy for this world. As your pupil once said,
"Those who break the rules are scum but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum" Fang Yuan said in an upright tone.
S"o does that make you, who abandoned your own child for the ninja world, the worst of scum?" Fang Yuan questioned.
Minato met his gaze for a few moment, then clenched his fists, full of regret.
After the lack of response, suddenly, Fang Yuan dashed at Naruto, his hand covered with a wooden gauntlet. Minato and Kushina quickly reacted.
They hurled themselves in front of Naruto to shield him. An iconic scene was recreated.
As if mirroring the night years ago, the night of Naruto's birth, the pair were pierced through the stomach again, protecting their child, their blood gushing on the already bloodied Naruto.
"Mom! Dad!"
The Kyuubi who was silent until now started laughing, now watching the familiar situation in 3rd perspective.
"It does not matter Naruto, we would have died anyways. You don't have to cry." Minato comforted.
"We will be going first Naruto, see you again." Kushina said with a smile.
Before Naruto's desperate eyes, the pair's bodies crumbled, their souls still trapped until Naruto died. Naruto fell to the ground in shock.
Fang Yuan caught Naruto at his throat and held him up. Naruto glanced at him in hatred.
"Even after all of that, you will die here just like me" Naruto smirked with difficulty yet satisfied.
"Your father could never hope to rival me in formation path, Naruto. It is child's play for me to leave this place." Fang Yuan tossed Naruto aside.
"Huh!?"
"You shinobi are all fools." Fang Yuan gripped Naruto's abdomen, he first placed another seal and then turned the existing one. The seal creaked for a moment before opening up.
The Kyuubi was let free. It instantly lunged at Fang Yuan, ready to tear him apart. His gigantic claw was about to reach him.
But Fang Yuan stopped it with a single hand.
It wasn't that Fang Yuan became massively stronger. With its chakra thoroughly depleted, Kyuubi was now not even at 1% of its power.
Fang Yuan held the Kyuubi's claw and started pulling it, extracting something from the Kyuubi, something other than chakra.
It was the Kyuubi's soul.
"What have you done to me?" Kyuubi felt danger.
Fang Yuan touched the physical body of the Kyuubi and it got turned into chakra. He absorbed it in a few moments, his chakra reserves going through the roof.
Then Fang Yuan flicked his finger, changing the environment.
Now only Fang Yuan and the Child of the Prophecy was left in the white void, getting dimmer every second.
"Your short life was worthless as well Uzumaki Naruto."
"I..." Naruto stammered.
"And you will die without ever achieving your dream."
The seal left by Fang Yuan finished its job. Now Fang Yuan could leave the space, which he did instantly, leaving the wide-eyes Naruto in the dimming white void.
Fang Yuan left Naruto's body, to be welcomed by a strange sight. The nearby nature had shifted. Grass had sprouted near Naruto, flowers blooming amidst the dense chakra. Birds were chirping, butterflies flying around and countless wild animals watching from afar each one wearing a gloomy face. The grass swayed in sadness and the wood trembled in regret.
Without a backward glance, Fang Yuan turned his back to the Child Of Prophecy, striding towards the rising sun. Fang Yuan's wooden battle kimono fell to the ground, leaving behind a traditional blue and white one. He walked forward, his head held high as Naruto lay on the ground, gave his final breath.
Exactly a week after Fang Yuan's transmigration, The Child Of Prophecy had met his end.
