Dylan stepped into Ava's office, his sharp gaze immediately catching the flowers tossed carelessly into the trash bin. A flicker of disappointment crossed his face. However, he pretended as if he hadn't noticed them. He quickly plastered a cheerful smile, striding toward her desk. "Are you free now?"
Ava had not finished her work yet. She had to figure out what those transactions were for. Before that, she wouldn't go anywhere. She barely glanced at him; her focus glued to the screen.
"No," she said flatly. "I have work to do."
Dylan closed the laptop, earning a startled gasp from Ava.
"What are you doing?" Ava exclaimed, throwing up her arms in the air. "I was in the middle of something important!"
"You can finish it tomorrow. Right now, we're going to lunch." Before she could protest further, he reached for her hand and gently pulled her up from her chair.
