Third person's POV

"He wants to face the Alpha? Even after seeing what just happened to the best fighters we have?" 

"He must be a joker! He is definitely joking!" 

The assembled warriors exchanged bewildered glances, their whispers a low hum of disbelief.

Chloe's golden eyes, previously narrowed in annoyance, now widened in shock. 

She blinked rapidly, as if trying to clear her vision of some illusion. 

"You want to... face me?" She asked, her voice a mixture of disbelief and amusement.

Aiden stood his ground, even as his heart raced within his chest. The scent of pine and earth filled his nostrils as he took a deep breath, steeling himself.

 "Yes, Alpha. He replied, his voice steadier than he felt.

Ethan, still frozen in place, finally found his voice. 

"Aiden, surely you don't mean—" He was saying but couldn't finish before Aiden cut him short.
