Even if I knew they deserved it, even if they brought this upon themselves, the thought of seeing Ferdinand rip their throats out like those helpless men yesterday, unnerved me.

I didn't want to plead on their behalf, but I also didn't want to watch them die either. There was only one person crazy enough to threaten these guys right now, and he was doing a wonderful job.
