"Sir, be careful!"
"Stop him!"
Chaos erupted among the group. The sudden appearance of the assassin caused panic within the army.
Jun and Shen were the leaders of this operation in this area. If they died during this mission, the soldiers would likely face a punishment worse than death.
In war, commanders and marshals were always the priority targets. For that reason, soldiers always fought to the death to protect their commanders.
It would be considered a severe dereliction of duty if one's commander were killed right in front of them without anyone taking action. But at that moment, everyone was at the front of the battlefield, eliminating bandits and criminals with their bows.
On top of that, there was no one nearby to support Jun and Shen, who were under attack.
In this sudden situation, both found themselves submerged in danger.
"Hmm!" With an ironic smile, Jun drew his other sword, and just as he was about to execute his sword technique, a metallic ring suddenly echoed beside him.
After that, with a speed beyond what others could analyze, Jun, like a dark streak of lightning, suddenly charged forward like a furious, bloodthirsty spirit.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
This was the first time everyone witnessed Jun making a move.
In an instant, his demeanor completely changed. A powerful, invisible aura burst forth around him. Under the shadows of the trees, Jun unleashed his internal energy, which, although invisible to many, appeared as a curtain of darkness to the assassin.
"I've heard rumors." The black-clad figure attempting to assassinate Jun did not retreat under the pressure; instead, he made a move to go for Jun's head.
Facing the tremendous attack, Jun simply slid his sword with a slight movement. At that moment, the edge of his sword deflected the enemy's blow just enough to prevent any harm, and then with his right hand, he prepared to deliver a fatal strike.
Jun, who had analyzed the assassin, moved his right sword, immediately thinking of a counterattack.
Those who hadn't witnessed the scene would never believe that such formidable power could be concentrated in the body of a man not so robust.
But Shen, who was closer, could see how Jun had shifted position as soon as his sword had pierced the assassin's stomach, and a few seconds later, he delivered a powerful kick to the abdomen.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The assassin's body, weighing about ninety kilos, flew as if struck by a cannonball. He crashed into several small trees before finally being embedded into a massive tree.
Splinters of wood flew through the air as the man was lodged into the tree by the force of his momentum.
For a moment, the entire hideout fell silent. Even the battle at the front seemed to momentarily stop. Jun's fearsome kick had stunned everyone, including Shen, who hadn't reacted in time.
Shen hadn't expected Jun to possess such terrifying strength, comparable to that of a wild beast.
'As expected of someone who, in just over two years, had built such considerable power from nothing. He's formidable!' That was the only thought left in Shen's mind at that moment.
If Jun had heard that, he would have beaten him for speaking in such a reverent tone that he despised. He preferred something more akin to absolute respect.
"Sir, are you alright?" Shen approached to check on Jun, who seemed to be cleaning his sword.
Jun turned around and asked, "Are you still here?"
"I was worried."
"Sir, we've captured the assassin!"
At that moment, a voice suddenly called out from the forest. Jun immediately focused on the important matter and headed toward the large tree where the assassin had been thrown.
Several cavalry soldiers had gathered beneath the tree. One of them held a spear, and another held a torch, allowing Jun to clearly see the assassin's appearance in the shadow of the tree.
The assassin was peculiarly distinct and of great stature. What stood out about his appearance was his long, curly beard and the black cloth wrapped around his head.
"I have only one question: who sent you?"
"Go to hell."
Crack!
Jun swiftly swung his sword again, cutting off the man's head. He looked at his subordinates and said, "Send messages to the other groups that experienced assassins are in the forest, and prepare the special weapons to neutralize them."
"We'll use the ravens."
"Also, use the rodents. We need to make sure that information reaches us." Jun said as he gazed into the forest ahead of him.
