Kyou Kai's eyes showed surprise as she looked at Jun, who kept his calm smile while eating.
"Are you looking for the princess of the Shiyuu Clan to kill her?" Jun asked after a while.
"Do you have a problem with that?" Kyou Kai's cold gaze turned toward Jun as she seriously considered grabbing her sword and leaving this place if she was in danger.
But Jun smiled and said, "I am the Black Moon of the Haiyue Clan. I am supposed to be paired with the princess of the Shiyuu Clan. However, if I claim her, she will try to kill me, and the same will happen if she decides to claim me."
"I've heard something about that..."
The relationship between both parts of the most powerful assassin clans in China was simple: match a man and a woman to see which path they would decide to take.
All Black Moons have chosen to kill the princesses of Shiyuu. There are also cases where the princesses kill the Black Moons, as their skills are not inferior to those of the men.
This tradition has existed for hundreds of years, and it is left to the interpretation of each assassin who faces the outside world.
Jun was a Black Moon, and he had to decide what to do with the princess of the Shiyuu Clan. He did not want to drag this out for too long because unexpected things could happen.
"You're out of your village; you killed many old women of your clan, and if I think a little about what you're looking for, I believe you want to kill the princess of the Shiyuu Clan who just gained that title half a year ago."
Kyou Kai's eyes couldn't hide when Jun reminded her of what she desired most.
"Are you going to stop me?" Kyou Kai asked as she reached for her sword.
Jun didn't feel threatened. Without an escape plan in his hand, he moved closer to Kyou Kai and said, "I have a different vision about this. I have no idea why you want revenge, but if you can kill the princess of the Shiyuu Clan, your fate will belong to me."
"What?"
"Do you think I'll let you die after fulfilling that vengeance you carry? Of course not. Many crescent moons want to have their offspring with a princess of the Shiyuu Clan to strengthen our clans. Do you think what you seek is that easy?"
"Tell me where she is." Kyou Kai pointed her sword at Jun, an insatiable fury in her eyes.
Jun didn't back down. He held Kyou Kai's sword as the blade cut into his hand, and his blood stained her sword. "When the blood ceremony began, everyone attacked me. I knew they would, so I killed them with a rather effective strategy."
Kyou Kai wanted to step back but found she couldn't move the sword held by Jun's hand. "I guess you lost a sister or something similar. She prevented you from participating, and when your clan asked you to die with honor, you discovered they brutally attacked your sister."
"You don't understand..."
"Maybe I don't, but we're similar. I don't know what else to do after winning the ceremony, and you plan to die after fulfilling your revenge. But we can have a new life. There's an old rule in the Shiyuu Clan that says if someone from their own clan kills her, she will earn the title of princess."
Jun had studied many ways in which he could find himself in a life-or-death situation, and this was the only one, which gave him a need to be constantly improving his way of life.
He couldn't have weaknesses; nothing should be out of his plans, or someone who desires what he has could come to take it.
"Should we help each other?" Jun's eyes were deep, showing he was not lying.
"I'm not asking for help."
"I know, but that princess is a bitch. If she won with methods like those, it makes me want to vomit, thinking that maybe someone from my clan could have won that way. Do you understand that if you go looking for her, she will do the same thing she did to win?"
Jun paused and said, "I'm someone very bored; I would like to do more things than participate in wars, so we could help each other."
"Do you know where she is?" Kyou Kai did not refuse immediately and instead asked a question that intrigued her.
"No, she might be with her village. There are rumors that she was helping the Wei dynasty, but she was relieved of her positions. But regardless of where she is, you are not ready to kill her," Jun said as he released Kyou Kai's sword, who then lowered her weapon.
"Why?"
"Your age. You are not yet at your prime. I wasn't either, and I was almost killed by members of my clan six years my senior," Jun said as he wrapped his hand with a bandage.
"What interests you in all this?" Kyou Kai asked, quite confused.
"I don't know; maybe I don't trust anyone, and you might be the only person I could place my trust in in the future." Jun trusted the twins, had allies within the clan who had sworn loyalty to him, and a constantly growing private army. However, he knew that betrayal still existed among them.
If he helped this girl fulfill her vengeance, maybe he could have someone by his side when many years had passed.
Jun saw a kindred spirit in Kyou Kai.
Maybe that's it...
