Chapter 62: Breaking into the Female Teacher's Dormitory Building at Night~
_______
After their Line exchange, Ichinose, still holding her phone, shyly stood up. "I'm going to grab a drink. Do you want one too, Rin? I'll get it for you," she offered with a smile.
...
"No, it's almost time for dinner, and I was planning on saying goodbye to everyone."
"You just got here," Ichinose said, looking slightly disappointed.
"Well, I'll talk to you again when I have the chance," Rin Matsuoka nodded, shaking his phone toward Ichinose Honami, whose cheeks were slightly flushed. "Or we can stay in touch on Line."
"Okay," Ichinose Honami smiled brightly again.
"Then I'll head out."
"Wait a minute!"
Before Rin could leave, Ichinose hurriedly grabbed a bottle of drink and stuffed it into his hand.
"Take this! You can't refuse—it's a thank-you gift for helping me earlier!"
Rin looked at the drink Ichinose had pressed into his hand. It was a peach-flavored water. The pink bottle, sweet and cute, reminded him of Ichinose herself—pink and incredibly sweet.
"Alright, I'll take it. Thanks. Goodbye."
"Mm."
Rin slung his backpack over his shoulder, holding the peach water, and said his goodbyes to Ichinose Honami before leaving Class B.
As she watched Rin walk away, Ichinose's soft lips curved upward, revealing a faint smile.
After leaving Class B, Rin returned to his dorm room. He emptied the contents of his backpack onto the bed, neatly arranging his belongings where they belonged.
With these daily necessities, the once-empty room began to feel more lived-in. Rin placed his newly purchased laptop on the desk and connected it to the room's network port using the cable provided.
The dormitory rooms for Rin and his classmates were equipped with internet ports, and the school provided them with access. Rin decided to check the speed using some software on his laptop.
"What a surprise! The internet the school set up is actually gigabit." Rin couldn't hide his amazement. His appreciation for the school grew even more.
Not only were they given personal points, but they were also provided with such a high-quality network connection.
"Marvelous."
However, Rin quickly discovered something odd: there were network restrictions in place.
"Tsk, I didn't expect the internet to be restricted. We can only access websites approved by the school." Rin clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Seems like this school is serious about cutting off students' contact with the outside world."
All the software on the school-issued phones, as well as the apps available for download, were specifically created by the school. Even the network itself had been designed with limited access.
The school had taken extreme measures to prevent students from communicating with the outside world.
After noticing these restrictions, Rin's thoughts turned to ways he might bypass them using his skills.
He already knew that Chabashira Sae and other class teachers had phones with the necessary permissions to contact the outside world. Rin began plotting how to get his hands on Chabashira's phone.
Once he had it, Rin could hack into her phone and figure out how her permissions worked.
With his intermediate hacking skills and proficiency in electronic programming, Rin was confident that once he had access to the permissions, he'd be able to copy them for himself.
Minutes ticked by as the sun set completely, plunging the campus into darkness.
The streetlights outside flickered on one by one, casting long shadows, but Rin's dorm room remained dimly lit, save for the soft glow of his laptop.
Rin's fingers flew across the keyboard, producing line after line of code on the screen. He was using his intermediate electronic programming techniques to develop the software he needed to break through the school's restrictions.
An unknown amount of time had passed when Rin Matsuoka's cell phone, which he had set aside, suddenly rang. He paused for a moment to glance at the illuminated screen.
Someone had sent him a message via Line.
"Who is it?"
Rin muttered as he checked the Line message on his phone. He was slightly taken aback. "Chabashira-sensei? The test paper is ready. Can I come to her dormitory now?"
After reading the message, Rin glanced at the time, his expression shifting to surprise.
"It's already 8:20! Time flies by so fast."
When people are deeply immersed in something they enjoy, they often lose track of time. Only when they check the clock do they realize how quickly it has passed. That was exactly what happened to Rin while he was writing programs on his laptop.
[Got it, Chabashira-sensei. I'll be there right now.]
Rin replied to Chabashira Sae, then closed his laptop and put it into hibernation, temporarily pausing his programming work.
He picked up the school uniform jacket thrown over the bed and left his dormitory room.
Perhaps it was because Rin had been called out by Sakayanagi Narumori during the entrance ceremony, or maybe it was simply because he was quite handsome; as he walked, the girls he passed cast glances his way. Some bold girls even approached him, asking for his Line account so they could follow each other.
Being a good person, Rin naturally couldn't turn them down. He accepted everyone who approached him, eagerly exchanging Line accounts with those courageous girls.
Once the girls had Rin's Line account, they would shyly walk away, leaving him to continue on his way.
The teachers' dormitory building was quite a distance from Rin's dormitory, requiring at least a twenty-minute walk.
Originally, the Line software was a straightforward chat and social application. However, the school's customized version included an information circle where students could upload things and photos they wanted to share.
As Rin made his way to the teachers' dormitory building, he browsed through the message circles of his new Line friends.
The girls had posted various photos, whether drinking milk tea with friends or singing karaoke together. Kikyo Kushida's information circle was particularly excessive; she had uploaded nearly thirty messages in just one day!
She was truly a sharing maniac!
Ichinose Honami, the girl described by the narrator as a "must-pursue," had also posted a photo to her friends' circle three hours ago.
It was a picture of students from Class B socializing in their classroom. In the photo, Ichinose was smiling brightly, her eyes sparkling with joy and happiness. Just looking at her cheerful face was enough to lift anyone's spirits.
Rin casually liked the photo uploaded by Ichinose Honami.
Since Rin hadn't had dinner yet, he spent two hundred yuan on a sandwich at a convenience store he passed.
How to describe the taste of this sandwich? It was decent—not bad at all, at least much better than the food Rin typically made for himself.
Finally, Rin arrived at the teachers' dormitory building. Unlike the student dormitories, there was no dormitory manager here, likely due to the fact that this building was designated for adults. As a result, Rin was able to slip inside without issue.
