Ryan stepped out of the shadows into the headquarters, his body aching from the night's events. He stretched, hearing a satisfying pop in his back.
'Well That was a journey I'd rather not take ..... Hmm Why do I feel Like I forgot something... Nah it must be nothing...'
"Home sweet home," he muttered and opened the door .
He walked into the main room to find Wanda hunched over Pietro, red energy flowing from her hands.
Pietro was in pain.
"What the hell happened here?" Ryan asked confused .
Wanda looked up, her eyes filled with worry.
"I don't know. One moment everything was fine, and then Pietro just collapsed. Mike came in few minutes ago .... "
Ryan glanced over to see Mike curled up in a corner, holding his head.
"Ah, crap," Ryan sighed.
"I think I remember What I forgot.... Looks like Professor X's little mind blast affected them after all. Good job holding it together, Wanda."
He moved to Pietro first, placing a hand on his forehead. The a white aura glowed softly as Ryan channeled its power. Pietro's breathing eased, and he slowly opened his eyes.
"Feels like my brain went through a blender...."
Pietro groaned, rubbing his temples.
Ryan nodded sympathetically.
"Good to see your sense of humor survived intact.... I hoped you would turn into something healthy... A vegetable maybe ?? "
Peter shook his head and got up as Ryan said .
"Just be glad you're not drooling on yourself."
He moved on to Mike, repeating the process. As Mike came to, Ryan couldn't saying anything hoping Mike forgot about the fact that he cut off his phone , But he could resist it .
"You know, for a technopath, you've got a pretty fragile firewall up there."
Mike flipped him off weakly and said .
"You cut my call and said it was a wrong number."
Ryan was done with the treatment so he just patted his back and said .
"Come on it was all fun....."
With everyone more or less back on their feet, Ryan collapsed onto the couch and flicked on the TV. The screen showed a news anchor looking somber.
"We interrupt our regular programming for a special report. Professor Charles Xavier, renowned geneticist and advocate for mutant rights, has requested to address the nation. We now go live to his press conference."
The screen switched to show Xavier, looking composed but serious, as he wheeled up to a podium filled with microphones.
"Good evening," Xavier began.
"I come before you today with a heavy heart and a urgent message. Recent events have brought to light a grave injustice that has been perpetrated against the mutant community, and indeed, against all of humanity."
Xavier paused, his gaze sweeping across the room.
"For years, a secret government program, led by Colonel William Stryker, has been conducting inhumane experiments on mutants. These experiments were not only unethical but also illegal, violating every tenet of human rights we hold dear."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd of reporters. Xavier continued.
"I myself was briefly held captive by this organization, forced to use my abilities against my will. It is with great regret that I must inform you that every mutant across the globe was affected by this forced use of my powers."
The room erupted in shouts and questions. Xavier raised a hand, calling for silence.
"I take full responsibility for the pain and suffering caused by this incident, even though I was not in control of my actions. It is because of this, and the gross violations of human rights committed by Stryker's program, that I must vehemently oppose the Mutant Registration Act."
A reporter stood up.
"Professor Xavier, are you saying that the government was behind these experiments?"
Xavier nodded gravely.
"While I believe that most government officials were unaware of these activities, there were certainly those in power who knew and supported Stryker's work."
Another reporter called out.
"What evidence do you have of these experiments?"
Xavier took out some documents and showed them to the public .
"We have extensive documentation, including video footage and testimonies from rescued mutants. All of this will be made available to the proper authorities and the public."
The questions continued for nearly an hour, with Xavier calmly addressing concerns about mutant safety, government accountability, and the future of human-mutant relations.
As the press conference wound down, Ryan turned to Wanda, who had been watching intently.
"how can we be sure that mutants won't pose a threat to non-mutant citizens?"
Xavier leaned forward, his expression earnest.
"The actions of a few should not condemn an entire group. Mutants are people, just like anyone else. We have the same hopes, dreams, and fears. What we need is understanding and education, not fear and segregation."
Another journalist stood up.
"But what about mutants who use their powers for crime?"
"We at the Xavier Institute are committed to teaching young mutants how to control their abilities and use them responsibly," Xavier replied.
"As for those who choose to break the law, they should be held accountable just like any other citizen. Having powers doesn't put one above the law."
The questions kept coming, each more pointed than the last. Xavier handled them all with patience and wisdom, never losing his composure.
"What do you say to parents who are afraid for their children's safety?"
"I say to them: your children are safer in a world where mutants are accepted and integrated into society, rather than forced into hiding. Fear and isolation breed resentment and conflict. Acceptance and understanding create harmony."
As the press conference wound down, Xavier made his final statement.
"I stand before you today not just as an advocate for mutant rights, but as a believer in human potential. Together, mutants and non-mutants alike, we can build a future that is brighter and more prosperous for all. Thank you."
The screen switched back to the news anchors, who began dissecting every word of Xavier's speech. Ryan muted the TV and turned to Wanda, who had been watching intently.
"Well, that was something," Ryan said, running a hand through his hair.
Wanda nodded, her eyes still on the screen. "I can't believe he went public with everything. It's... brave."
She turned to Ryan, her gaze searching.
"Did you have something to do with this? You went out last night.... You went go to help the X-Men, didn't you?"
Ryan shrugged, trying to look nonchalant.
"I may have had a chat with the good old professor. Guess he took my advice to heart."
Wanda's eyes widened.
"You were there ?? The news channels said there was mass destruction ! What if you get hurt .... "
Ryan just shook his head and said .
"Yeah don't worry about that , there are very few things that can hurt me and even if they do . I can just heal right back in a jiffy .."
Wanda wasn't amused by that .
"I don't mean that.... Just forget about it Mr. Ryan"
Ryan was confused .
"Why are you being formal again ?? I told you to call me Ryan ...."
Wanda didn't talk to him and went into her room .
Ryan sat there confused .
"You know people who return from a fight usually get a gift or maybe a congratulations....."
Peter and Mike who put a ice pack on there head looked at each other .
"Is he always this clueless... ??"
Peter asked pointing at Ryan .
"The first time I met him , He thought , The woman offering him a drink was trying to sell it.... and he paid her the money....."
Ryan was looking at the news trying to see the changes happening in the world .

Meanwhile, in a state-of-the-art lab in New York, Dr. Reed Richards was watching the same broadcast, his fingers flying over a keyboard as he ran simulations on a nearby computer.
"Fascinating," he muttered. "The implications of widespread mutant powers..."
But soon he was distracted by another thought
".... We'll need to adjust our shielding for the space flight."
His colleague, Ben Grimm, looked up from a stack of blueprints.
"You still worried about those cosmic rays, egghead?"
Reed nodded absently, his mind already racing with new calculations.
"More than ever, Ben. If mutant DNA can produce such extraordinary abilities, imagine what exposure to cosmic radiation might do..."
Ben just smiled at his friend .

In Latveria, Victor von Doom stood before a wall of monitors, each displaying Xavier's announcement from different angles. His expression was hidden behind his metal mask, but his posture radiated intensity.
"Intriguing," Doom mused.
"Xavier shows unexpected courage. Perhaps there is more to these mutants than I first believed."
He turned to a nervous Man.
"Prepare a statement. Latveria shall offer support for mutant rights. After all, greatness can emerge from unexpected places...."

Back in New York, Tony Stark was in his workshop, multiple holograms displaying the news around him as he himself was about to talk to the press about the incident at stark industries last night .
"JARVIS, what's your analysis?" Tony asked, straightening his suit .
"Based on current social media trends and political climate, sir, I predict a 78% chance of increased tensions between mutants and non-mutants in the coming weeks," the AI responded.
Tony sighed. "Great. Just what we need, more diversion from our news.... Pepper!"
Pepper Potts appeared on a nearby screen.
"Already on it, Tony. But I think you should first focus on your own business for now , you should not deviate from the cards today... we need to put all of this behind us... The press will be ready for you in 15 minutes"
Tony was looking at the mirror and at the news as he said getting out .
"I am sure 2 flying men in the sky trying to kill each other will be more interesting then , a whole race almost getting killed ... I should really hire that Ryan guy.... he always works on the most interesting things.."
Pepper rolled her eyes as he followed her boss .

In a hidden SHIELD facility, Nick Fury stood before a group of agents, his eye fixed on the largest screen in the room.
"Alright, people. This changes everything," Fury barked.
"I want eyes on every major mutant hotspot. If so much as a whisker twitches out of line, I want to know about it."
Agent Hill stepped forward.
"Sir, what about the Target-R ?"
Fury's expression hardened.
"For now, we watch and wait. But be ready for anything."

Ryan, oblivious to these reactions, continued scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, a small news item caught his eye:
"Unusual atmospheric disturbances in New Mexico. Dr. Jane Foster and Dr. Erik Selvig investigating."
A slow smile spread across Ryan's face. "Well, well, well. Looks like things are about to get even more interesting."
He stood up, stretching once more. "But that's a problem for future Ryan. Present Ryan needs some sleep."
As he walked to his room, he couldn't shake the feeling that something big was on the horizon. The world was changing, and he was right in the middle of it all.
"You know," he said to no one in particular,
"I'm starting to think I might have a knack for this hero business. Or maybe I'm just really good at causing chaos. Eh, same difference."
With that, he flopped onto his bed, his mind already racing with possibilities for what tomorrow might bring. As he drifted off to sleep, one last thought crossed his mind:
"I wonder if Asgardians like shawarma..."
