He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, arching a brow. "Your food. It's much richer and heavier than Auranian food. I assume that your slow response is from foolish overindulgence."

Donncahd clarified, his voice dry. "Perhaps a bit more caution is in order." He paused. "I have no interest in having to carry you back to our rooms like a child."

She pressed her lips together. "I. Haven't. Overeaten."

"No?"

His red eyes focused on her with dangerous intensity, and her stomach dropped.

"Then why haven't you answered my question?" His tone was sharp, and she swallowed hard.
