章 49: HARLEY: Vivian

"Do I joke, Harley?" Amadeo questioned me.  

"No," I let out.  

He stood up from his seat and walked over to stand in front of me. "Then you have to understand that I'm not joking right now. I'll give you anything you desire, as long as you stay back there, and put up with it until it's over. You can't leave just yet, I need you, that contract is important, a lot is depending on it."  

I blinked rapidly, my throat bobbing as I swallowed. This was...this was the first time my father had ever pleaded desperately for something from me. It was almost...unreal.  

Why was he so adamant about this? He knew I would possibly at some point challenge him on this, yet he risked it and made me the one to marry Sylus. Something just wasn't adding up. My father wasn't being entirely truthful. I mean, I was very sure that either Vivian or Vannessa would have gladly married Sylus for his sake.
