The purpose was to help his future father-in-law, Albert Rosemary, with his work—specifically, to exterminate a type of magical creature called "Locust Imps" that appeared every year around Count Valery's territory.

Locust Imps were the enemies of farmers, ravaging crops just before harvest and causing significant damage. The vast farmlands of Count Valery's territory experienced these pests every year. As a result, they sought help from the Rosemary Marquisate, which was nearby and possessed many skilled mages.

"The Valery Countship supplies us with grain at a reduced price in exchange for exterminating the Locust Imps. It's a mutually beneficial relationship," Albert explained to Rest on their way to Valery's territory.
